Forums - Gaming - I want to talk about the arguably 'greatest genre' in gaming Shooters!!

If you honestly have never heard about it and have some spare time, you should read this:

Well actually that link isn't the greatest. This one is much better:

I agree. I never played an fps game till resistance this gen. It was okay then I got cod4 which was fantastic. i purchased Resistance 2 which I didn't like then killzone 2 came out and is the best shooter I've ever played.

To answer your questions:

Best multiplayer= killzone 2, no contest (I'm addicted, My little brother's addicted)
King of Shooters=killzone 2 (from my short list of shooter experiences)
Most significant=Killzone 2 (exclusive with the best graphics and physics to be found on ps3)

"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

The Orange Box answers all your questions.

Half-Life 2, one of the most revolutionary shooters ever made, with 3 expansion episodes.

Portal, the greatest shooter ever made. It's a comedy/horror-puzzle/shooter.

Team Fortress 2, for great class-based online multiplayer.

3 different games, and 3 expansion episodes. All this can be yours for $30 total.

Nice one. Ill be sure to add it to the list.

COD 4 , best shooter ever

No wii FPS games tsk tsk

Lost Planet, Gears 1, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, and Call of Duty 4, WaW are my most favorite shooters this gen.

Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^

You forgot one of the most fun multiplayer shooters ever: Battlefield-series. I've spend so much hours in Battlefield 1942, and I'm greatly looking forward to the XBL remake of three maps (wake, Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima I believe.) And Battlefield Heroes (go look up a trailer of this one it'll appeal to you I'm sure!).
There is just so much appeal to jump from a plane, firing your gun down while landing in a tank to blast your way further through a level!

Ow as for a shooter history lesson:

Look up the origins in Wolfenstein 3D, Quake and Doom.
Father of modern shooters: Half life
First good console FPS is not Halo, it's Goldeneye. Perfect Dark is it's spiritual heir.
