You're insane if you think that GT & GT3 sold evenly across all of the years that they were available. GT4 sold more than 4 million copies in its first month on sale. Your assertion that GT games sell over long periods of time is so absurd that you appear to be trolling. You don't honestly believe that GT games aren't front loaded unlike every other franchise do you? If so then there is no point in further discussion. GT5 YTD sales will surpass those of Halo 3, mark my words.

Dude step down from your fanboy stool for a second and actually read what i wrote. You base your whole made up figures on the fact Gran Turismo has a big fanbase. Which it does, it has a massive fanbase.

BUT

Grand Theft Auto has a bigger fanbase. Your failed logic would imply that more people would play Gran Turismo games then GTA games. If the biggest selling Playstation game in history only sold its new game to 25% of PS3 owners in a year then why would Gran Turismo  sell more? That would make the franchise bigger then the GTA franchise, which it isn't. It is like your saying GT series is more main stream then GTA, which as i said is bollocks. More people will be interested in games with guns, stealing cars and doing whatever you want then a racing game. GTA has a widespread appeal while racing games appeal to sports fans.

BUT

The people who play the GT series will also play the GTA series. The people who bought GTA4 on PS3 will probably buy GT5, i know i will. But your logic means that GT5 has to sell 50% more then GTA4 did on the PS3 to just get on par with Halo 3 sales let alone over-take them. That means GT5 MUST sell at least 5m units in it's first week. That means 25% of PS3 owners will buy the game in its first week. Then it must go on from that and sell in just over a year nearly another 5m units. Meaning after it's first year it has to hae passed the 9.5m units barrier. Meaning as i said it needs to beat sales of GTA4 by 2 to 1.

= Not going to happen. If it took A-spec nearly 10 years to get to 14m and took GT4 5 years to get to 9m units the likelyhood that GT5 will do that in just over a year is a joke. It will not happen.

Isn't that a ferrari.....?

Not sure which one would sell more though (with an even fan base), but it'd be ridiculously close.

that's the new Hyundai Sonata

@Hyruken

Only a fanboy would blindly call somebody else a fanboy. Halo 3 sold 8.2 million in its first year, not 9.5 million. Gran Turismo 5 will sell more than the PS3 version of GTA4 because it's exclusive. Why is it so hard to understand that GTA4 on the PS3 is less popular than San Andreas for the PS2 because it wasn't a timed exclusive? If GT5 outsells all versions of GTA4 COMBINED then it is more popular but it doesn't have to. It only needs to surpass 8.2 million to beat Halo 3's first year which is nothing next to GTA4. It's hardly outside of the realm of possibility for the next installment in one of the most popular and mainstream franchises in history to outsell Halo 3, especially considering the fact that it is going to introduce many new features not found in GT4.

Without any analysis at all I'm going to day Halo 3 just because I just can't understand what people see in Gran Tourismo games.

Signature goes here!

 You really don't quite get it do you? Firstly a fanboy is someone who believes something can achieve something beyond its ability. I.e saying a game will sell above and beyond everything else etc. Which is what your saying.

But because you don't get it i will break it down into simple terms for you.

GTA4 has sold 5.47m units in a year on the PS3. This makes it the biggest selling game on the PS3. The next best seller is COD4 having sold 4m on the PS3. These 2 games are "multi-platform". Disproving your "exclusives sell more" theory.

After those 2 games we find the first PS3 exclusive game in Metal Gear Solid 4. A very popular game, especially amongst the Japanese traditionally. However this game has sold 3.9m in almost a year.

So then we look at Halo 3. A game that has sold 9.2m units in the 15 months on release. This is the target GT5 must get to for it to win right?

So then this means for GT5 to beat Halo 3 sales as you say in the same period of time it must sell more units then GTA4 and MGS4 in a year COMBINED. This means as i keep trying to tell you it must sell nearly 50% MORE units then the biggest selling PS3 game which is GTA4.

And that is why you are living in fantasy land and why your a fanboy. To think a racing game will beat Grand Theft Auto 4 and Metal Gear Solid 4 (two games of the year 2008) sales COMBINED is nothing short of crazy. That will not happen.

It also means GT5 must then steal the crown of the biggest opening for an entertainment product in history which Halo 3 has. Again i don't think i will be seeing GT5 Mountain Dew, i don't think i will be going into Mcdonalds and see GT5 pictures on the burger packets etc etc.

Understand now why what your saying is stupid?

People that wanted a racing game would buy GT5 and people that wanted a shooting and fighting the aliens kind of game would buy Halo 3.

Heavens to Murgatoids.

They would sell shit load of copies, Halo 3 would probably sell more first week and so but Gt5 would have longer legs.

@Hyruken

You just don't understand. You can't compare GT5 to multiplatform games that have less then half of their sales on the PS3, that doesn't make any sense. It also doesn't make sense to compare GT to MGS considering the fact that GT3 outsold MGS 2, 3 & 4 put together. GT5 may perform as well as GT3 considering that it is the first PS3 installment and it is introducing online play and vehicle damage. GT3 sold more than 14 million copies and the GT games see more than half their lifetime sales in the first 10 weeks. It's entirely within the realm of possibility for GT5 to sell more than 8.2 million copies in its first 12 months, in fact, I'd call it likely.

PS. You have a terribly strange definition of fanboy.

I like racing and shooting aliens but you won't see me buy either Halo 3 or Gran Turismo 5 :P

Hyruken is owning this thread. Bouzane should stop replying.

You can sum it all up in one sentence. Halo 3 would outsell GT5 because the PS3 fanbase will not be anything close to what the PS2 fanbase was when GT4 was released, nor will it ever get anywhere close to it as much as fanboys like to believe.
