Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.
I see a little too much crazed fanboy talk and not enough of what Microsoft should actualluy do.

IMO you have the answer: Doing nothing more than what they are doing.
I believe they announced several months ago that they are ready for another price cut, should Sony finally reacts...

Honoustly, what can they do or try what they didn't allready done and tried ?
And why should they ? Why not just accept the current situations and try to get back from all those losses with some good games.

I agree that there is a large amount of "hope" being passed off as "logic" in this thread.
I'd only comment that I think the assumption that Microsoft has to respond is flawed; so you can put me down for whatever option it was that equals "do nothing".
The talk of Microsofts stock plumletting is dumb because 90% of all stocks are down. Its a WW crisis that everyones crapping in their pants for. Its what helped Obama win the presidency and shut that Palin fool up. Why single out Microsofts stock. On the other hand, they have about 30 billion in cash ready on demand.

Out of Topic : Crisis can have very positive effects sometime

When will the PS3 drop to $300? 2010 or 2011? I have ruled 2009 out - it may be reduced slightly to $350.
BTW: How is this thread topic adding to the Microsoft discussion forum?
@Willem - The main difference is Microsoft as a WHOLE are still making money, Sony aren't. Microsoft have huge cash reserves, Sony don't. Microsoft are in the strongest position to do whatever they like right now. The last time Sony cut prices Microsoft did pretty much nothing so they could keep some profit coming in to cover the RROD cost they wrote off. This time round they're looking feisty and can choose whether to reply or not.
If Sony are mad enough to cut the cost by $100 then there is no point in Microsoft replying with their own cut immediately as it wouldn't significantly stop the boost to the PS3 or give the 360 much of a boost. The 360 at its current value has at least another year of demand IMO.
