what?? why does everyone says cloud and sephiroth??. those characters are amazing. in this case i am going to agree with @the anarchyz, pikachu for me is overrated i dont know what people see in him or in all pokemon games seriously. i once played a pokemon game on a gameboy and another in a N64 and i just didnt like it at all. i dont know why those games sell so much. but in the end is about tastes. please dont kill me nintendo fans please.

That still doesn't explain why Cloud is overrated and Mario isn't. Marios fame stems from events in SMB productions

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.  I'll keep saying it too until this site gets it's act together.  This is vgchartz. 

And you're right, it is about tastes.  It's too bad that this crap is hindering vgchartzs' community expansion.  Isn't that what the community wanted?  Do the members want vgchartz to expand?
