Why not trade it in SmokedHostage? If he can't enjoy the game then shouldn't he trade it in to be able to spend the money on something that's fun for him?

I honestly think he's trading it in for a poor reason.

What would be a good reason? I have put some serious hours into trying to enjoy it.

I am trading it to get RE5 which I am getting for the same reason I got SFIV - I like the past games and the reviews are pretty good.

Ok then, trade it in.  I just hope you do so with no regret.. -looks out for you-

Pixel Art can be fun.

I tried arcade mode (360 version) and with the default setting, 3 dudes jumped in un-invited and raped my ass (in the game, silly)!

There's a lot to learn but I don't think it's too tough anymore. But if you weren't having fun, you did the right thing. I just hope you didn't buy any of those downloadable outfits!

I played this game on easy and found it quite hard so i put it on hardest thinking i was going to get killed but thought i would try it and i play the game better when it's on hardest then on easy.

Most of the enjoyment from games comes from difficulty, the more difficult and frustrating the game is the more enjoyable it is when you finally wade through it. How can an easy or normal difficulty game be enjoyable?

I have no problem with difficulty - it is frustration that led to this game going back. There are plenty of other factors that make up enjoyability that just how hard it is.

Mario Kart wii is not what I'd class as a difficult game in single player but on-line it can be very togh to win but that does not stop me going back time and again because I enjoy the game overall. i did not get that with SF

THE BABOOOOOOOOSHKAAAAAAAA!!!!!

Loved that machine.

Installing it drastically reduces the load times, but a continue without character select option would've been good.

And yeah, it's nails.

you're old :P not really, but as a veteran SF player judging from your post I can see some of the reasons for your disappointment/frustration:

You said you couldn't pull anything off with the controllers, maybe you needed to get accostumed to the pad before trying the more complicated SF4 (quite more complex than SF2 for sure) I'd recommend buying Super Street Fighter 2 HD Remix from the PS Store, it's just 15.00 and worth every penny, you will definitely play a lot of online and (win) on this on this one but more importantly you'll get used to the pad while you have *fun*. Trust me on this one, you owe yourself to play that game.

If your PS3 has BC (can play PS2 games) or somehow you can get a hold of a PS2, you should buy a couple of PS2 games for cheap on ebay: Street Fighter Anniversary Collection and Street Fighter Alpha Anthology, the first includes Street Fighter 3 which is very similar in timing and speed to SF4 and the latter includes all SF Alpha games which also share a good amount of technical similarities with SF4. Note that I'm not implying you have to play any of this games to be any good in SF4, but I think if you can find it for cheap there's no hurt in having a taste of what you've missed. At least go buy that SSF2 HD Remix from the PS Store NOW!

Maybe someone already answered this but you could've solved the "loading problem" with the "install" option included in Options menu. Yes, the PS3 version sucks because Capcom sucks and they'd rather screw their japanese fellows with a run-of-the-mill 360 port than taking the time to do the appropiate programing for the PS3.

Seth is just cheesy, even in EASIEST, so if you are inexperienced or unskilled (or both) you'd be better off beating he cheesy too, the good ol' crouching kicks for the most part work almost flawlessly. Some characters have it easier with Seth or perhaps he's difficulty setting gets all messed up, I'm not sure. I'd stick with the cheesiness until being able to perform at a good skill level. It's not really that hard, I have a friend who never touched a SF2 game after the 16-bit era (or any videogame actually!) and he just recently bought a PS3 and SF4 and he's been able to beat Seth on Medium at couple of times (and he hasn't played more than 4 or 5 hours, in Arcade mode, with friends, etc. Really) So what does that say about you my SF2 Arcade veteran friend? You must give the game a chance.

PS. You say you're "calm", but the promptness in returning SF4 makes me think you did hurl that controller, a little too many times ;)

note - i did do the "install". It's just that I have always found PS2 & Ps3 load time "too bloody slow" compared to the GC.

note to drpunk - £2k for a 2nd hand Addams Family on ebay, boy am I tempted!!!

You clearly suck at the game and don't want to put any effort into it to get to a decent level like everyone has to. Lots of gamers these days want games to be handed to them on a plate. Die more than twice on one section and it's unfair. Too hard, blah, blah.

Pretty fucking sad imo.

i love street fighter 4. i must admit the learning curve and difficulty are kinda harsh. The best advice i can give you is. Play online matches. The only way to improve is to lose. Spend time training and in trial challenges, and practice the combos you're learned online.
