It's one day before the official release. Already got my limited edition tin-case version because some retailer broke street-date. Have played a few hours and it looks gorgeous! As we already knew
.

Question is; Does the game deliver on gameplay?
After having to get used to the controls a little (I played RE4Wii-edition) it still didn't feel 'natural'. So I went to the menu and set the aiming on fastest. Now it felt really well and I was ready to play!
First of, the game might be in daylight, but there are tons of moments where there is hardly any lightsource and there's always this tense feeling that something eary might be nearby! It could be the villagers that are just sitting there and looking at you with their bloodfilled eyes or that you encounter something that is totally out of the ordinary that isn't even describable. Thanks to all the animations and your sidekick everything gets a really lively atmosphere and there's always something going on! It's actually going from climax to climax.
I haven't played long enough to get to chapter 2 but I'v seen chapter 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3... And only having played that small portion of the game I've already encountered several 'midgame' bossfights and several varying locations which all looks astounding!
I can assure you, although it seems that it has straid away from the 'Resident Evil' formula, I still believe it hasn't. It has remained faithful to the series because it still keeps you on the edge of your seat at some points and the narative plot and the tense atmosphere keep your alertlevel on maximum throughout the game! I recommend this game to anyone who enjoyed Resident Evil 4, or earlier parts for that matter. And who likes a HD-action game that moves from climax to climax and combines this with a constant 'fear-factor' as a bonus!

^The collector's edition in it's full glory ^

In my opinion this game really delivers! Not only is it one of the best looking games to grace the current generation of consoles but it also combines the action-packed 'hollywood' blockbuster feel with the typical survival-horror elements that this franchise is known for! 9/10!
Please, post your experiences with the newest version of Capcom's Resident Evil series and tell me how you feel about this survival horror game!
