Ash/red/yellow(whatever the stupid name u call him) is so deep, he doesnt speak, and his hat, and his bike, HE IS A 10 YEAR OLD KID THAT TRAVELS ALONE OMG!!! I cried so much the 11nth time I fought Team Rocket. OMG you can breed pokemon and have 130 of the 151 pokemon so I have to buy the other version or make my friends get it so I can have all the pokemon. It was so fun after 10 years when I got to choose again one of 3 pokemon and beat the gym leader and win the pokemon league in every game, thats so FUN!!!!

 I say FF7 is better and Im a 18 year old guy, and I liked Pokemon when I was 9.

hahaha the 131 out of 150 was funny lol good response

but i never said pokemon was deeep, deep games suck

 

Oh, yeah I forgot they put even more weird pokemon to convince people to buy the same game all over again.

 

I'm willing to contest that it's not the same game over and over again simply because Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow show their age in comparsion to Diamond/Pearl/Platinum.  Also, I'm willing to contest you haven't played to more recent entry because you say that the only change are more Pokemon when they have been upgrades to the Double Battling, the addition of Wi-Fi Play, Revamping of the contest system, several enviroment changes(Hail, Marsh, etc.), GBA data transfer, and others from just the transition from R/S/E to D/P/Pt.

 

I played red, yellow,  silver and I downloaded the gba ones(I dont remember which one) including fire red. I just saw my friend who has a DS playing his version(we werent actually watching him play we where laughthing at him because he bought it). There has been upgrades ovioulsly, I was just exagerating, the same thing that has been done in the other sence mocking FF characters and "deepness".

No it isn't. Uwe Boll movies are all box-office and critical failures. FFVII did well on both.

The entire first half of the OP is spent talking about how everyone knows what FF7 is, how its legacy has to do with how people are aware of it. Don't make me quote it!

Okay I'm quotin' it!

Now, I'm not exactly a fan of Final Fantasy 7. I personally like its predessor better, Final Fantasy 6. But I'm smart enough to give respect where it deserves to go, and Final Fantasy 7 is one title that deserves our respect. Everyone knows it, my 8 year old newphew who wasn't even born when the game was released knows it. Maybe you've seen the CGI movie, maybe you've played the spin-off, or heck. Maybe your a Final Fantasy Tactics fan who wondered what's this spikey-haired blonde guy doing in my game?

But why? How did this game become so well-known? Some may argue that because it was the first to use animated cut-scenes to help tell the story that it's so well known. Some say it's the gameplay, some say it's the characters, the story, the music. Alot of people love this game for many reasons, and alot of people hate this game for those same reasons. Why do I think it's so famous? Because it took everything that we knew in JRPGs and raised the bar.
This is not a statement of quality, people! It is a statement of popularity!

The OP simply forgot about Pokemon. That's fine! That's perfectly acceptable. It's okay to be forgetful!

But the answer to the topic is Pokemon.

Well, I haven't been here the entire time. I just have to say this.

Quality is deteimed by the consumers. People are arguing quality, but true quality is measured in sales. Think of it as one big survey, or experiment. You give people this game, and see how much they like it. People when gaga for Pokemon and it started a worldwide crazy. FF7 was popular amoung gamers.

Sales are a good indicator of quality becuase it tells just how many people liked it. It would not be able to reach the astronomical numbers it did unless it was popular. Also, that many people would not have bought it if didn't have that high of quality.

The quality being spoken of in this thread (or so I hear) is that judged by gamers. The one I speak of is real quality as it takes in all factors of all consumers.

I know you're exagerrating but I was as literal as possible to prove a point.  I'm sure you don't take kindly to people say that FF isn't deep and its those who like androgynous males saving the world.  I personally consider the story secondary as there is linking between games for a reason like trading/battling/trading data/etc. but that likely won't change your opinion.

Just let it be known that Pokemon is just as much a JRPG series as Final Fantasy is.

I'm sorry for the "regarded as a better game" thing. I was thinking about Famitsu's top 100 (which actualy puts X over VI). I guess I was out of line.

But still, comparing FFVII's critical aclaim (or comercial success, for that matter) to that of Uwe Boll movies was ridiculous of your part.

I definitely wouldn't because it means that McDonald's cheeseburgers are higher quality than Chile's BBQ ribs.
