Forums - Gaming - Violent video games could have higher retail prices

@Vetteman94:

"But its obviously not to much of a logical stretch for him to correlate the rise in knife crimes to the accessibility of cheap and violent video games."

Oh sure. I did say he's got a lot to learn and I don't think he's right.

The way to stop knife crime is to get more police on the streets and away from desks and increase the number of police as well. Might also help if they did something about knifes themsleves. Such as higher VAT or punishing retailers.

how much do you want to pay for your butcher knife? You can kill with those too, and there are a lot of domestic cases with them.

I agree with more police, but you are obviously limited by tax dolars.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

@Megadude that was RANDOM,What does this have to do with rap?

This is the single dumbest idea I have ever heard of and seems to be discriminating against gamers, so we going to have a tiered approach at the movies G movies less than PG13 and R rated being an extra $5.00? What about TV the Shield will have some sort of negative cost associated? You cant make a violent game cost more

PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game

We should double the price of cars, because cars kill people. Every day (and GTA didn't make them do it).

I propose a tax on bad video games.

Any game that gets lower than a 60 on Metacritic should have a 25% tax applied to its sales price. Any game lower than 40 Metacritic, gets a 50% tax. The tax revenue should go to fund economic development by giving tax breaks to game companies who set up offices in your state.

I believe that when a parliament is a fanboy of some console, they should be able to raise taxes on the other consoles.
