It's becoming more and more obvious that the new Intel processors, while very efficient, absolutely does not like to go hand by hand with Windows Vista. Enough said to just google the problem to get a handful of links to forums where pc owners often complain about their pc's being slower than snails, frequent crashing etc etc.
Heck i was touched by this problem, bought my self a new rig:
Icore 7 2,67 ghz, 3GB DDR3 1066mhz, HD4850 1GB, MSI X85 Platinum
So all in all, not too shabby, right? So guess what i felt when it turned out that my computer barely manages to even load the system and is unable to use even 20% of the cpu's power? well i was absolutely dumbfounded, no matter what i tried, it came down crashing.
Turns out, the architecture of the icore 7 cpu's is slightly uncompatible with vista, to say the least. Not only that, Vista has many problems with utilizing DDR3's as well. Many gamers on said forums complained that while their pc's worked heavenly when equipped with only 2gb of Ram, anything above that would lead to a great loss in efficiency, going as much as 600% (!!!!).
thankfully, it seems that the best way to deal with this is to start messing with your bios. After a bit of tinkering i managed to pull down the bottleneck choking my cpu and ram and BAM! i have never seen Vista load so fast as then my friends. up and running after 15 seconds, that's better than my mac!
so remember, if you should have similar problems as i did, get tinkering on that bios. And if you're not certain what's going on, best solution you can come up with is to look for new drivers for your motherboard.
So now, i'm of to play some bit of the Witcher, or as i prefer to call it, Wiedźmin.
