Forums - Sony - Next Insomniac Title To Be PlayStation 3 Exclusive.

They're not making Resistance Retribution. That's Sony Bend.

Wasn't Quest for Booty made by their new North Carolina studio? I thought they were dedicated to making PSN stuff.

Agreed, and yup, most likely. That is of course, if they have a new IP cookin!

They could be. They opened a new studio not too long ago so maybe they can start releasing 2 games per year? The next R & C AND a new IP? Insomniac work like dogs so I wouldn't be surprised.

2 games a year from a company like Insomniac is like a dream come true for Sony fans.  I just hope if they decide to pump them out tat fast they can keep the quality of the games as high as they have been.

I'm thinking that last year was kind of a test by releasing the Ratchet & Clank Future:Quest For Booty and Resistance 2, just to see if they were capable of releasing more than 1 game in a year.

Thats true, forgot about that.  I guess you can say this year will also be a 2 game year for them as well,  with Resistance Retribution on PSP and R&CF 2 on PS3.

Nope, Resistance Retribution is made by SCE Bend Studio

but let me say this , i encourage multiplat for all good game developers

um no.

Good devs can take a console and push it hard making the best game possible, multi ruins that.

I agree with this, if you're going to make a game make it awesome for the console of choice, people typically just have too much bias against a company to buy their consoles though.  It's always "RAWR I want Mario games on Playstation" (common in real life convos with me) "RAWR I want all these HD titles on Wii!" (everyone should see this) and no one sees the issue is to just buy another console, and buy the exclusives, which are typically better then the multiplatform titles. (except for the exceptional CoD games)

Agreed 100%.  In a perfect world, all games wouldbe exclusive and everyone would own all consoles, so install bases wouldn't matter for developers.  Developers would just choose the hardware that would best fir their vision for the game.

But nobody has the money for that, and thus the world is not perfect. :(

@ all

twas that the case why do we see so many exlusives go multiplat ? because the markets spread out  . We have the Wii skyrocketed and the two HD consoles lagging behind !! i know it doesnt make sence to most of you but its a necessity , at least this gen.

You missed my point.  Obviously what I said is not the case, but in a perfect world it would be.

Ultimately, developers need to survive, which is why the go multiplat.

makingmusic, you also post on NeoGaf, right?

Which devs have members posting there, that you know of?...I´ve heard there are members from Bungie, Guerrila, Bethesda, posting....many many others?...Or not that many?

A bunch. Some I know of specifically:

Naughty Dog:

Arnie

Insomniac:

JStevenson

Guerrilla Games:

Tempy
Iain Howe
LaLiLuLeLo
tiddles (just made an account a few days ago, actually )

Eat Sleep Play:

DavidJaffe (can you guess who that is? :P)

Silicon Knighst:

DennisDyak (ah, the fallout after his legendary bet - not sure if he was banned for that)

And I know there are two Infinity Ward guys on there, and 3-6 Bungie guys (two that post pretty regularly). I can't remember there names, though. As one guy on gaf put it:

"If GG wants to be a top tier shooter franchise holder than they have to have a strong GAF representation."

All the best shooter devs have a strong gaf presence. I can't think of a notable shooter dev that doesn't, accept for maybe Epic.

Jaffe posts there?...Hasn´t he given any subtle hints on a possible TM for PS3?

Not on there, though he has flipped otu on people over his "GoWIII looks like a painting!" comments.

And he confirmed TM for ps3 awhile back. People broke that code in Head On, and when some website asked him about it, he said he was disappointed it was broken so fast.

Ever since he's denied the game's existence. I guess Sony got to him. xD

makingmusic, the NC studio only opened January of this year, so they haven't created any games yet. I'm personally hoping to see them working on a new IP.

OT: No surprise here, though I'd like a name for the game they're working on.
