Wow, Blizzard would post a MASSIVE year if they can get Diablo out for the holiday....

"Rumor of the day: Blizzard Entertainment's upcoming dungeon destroyer Diablo III is said to be coming on December 24th--that's Christmas Eve, gentlemen and ladies.

A writer with website Product-Reviews.com says he has spoken with designers who are working on the game, and these unnamed designers have dropped the release date of the full game and the release date of a multiplayer beta trial version. That's said to be coming on September 11th.

The designers also dropped some specs for the game:

PC:
Operating System: Windows XP/ Vista
Processor: 1.4GHz or higher CPU.
RAM: 1Gb or more.
Video: 128Mb video card Dx9
Hard Drive Space: 4-8GB

Mac:
Operating System: MacOS X 10.3 (Panther) or better.
Processor:1.6GHz or higher.
RAM: 1Gb or higher, DDR RAM recommended.

I'm going to make a prediction here: I say both these dates will turn out to be wrong. While this might be reasonable as a window of time to put out Diablo III, I think it's unlikely that a company would release a title on Christmas Eve. Given the choice between December 24th and December 16th (say) anyone on earth would pick the earlier date so as not to miss holiday sales. This far out from the supposed release date, there's no way you'd plan on cutting off your own holiday sales that way.

As for September 11th... Um, not the best date to release entertainment products, don't you think? What think you?"

Blizzard could release the game on Dec 31st and still make a killing with sales.. who cares what the date is for release with this or StarCraft 2.

Those specs are miniscule.

Am I missing something? MY computer could probably run that game on high, and my computer sucks ass.

There's no way Blizzard would keep a huge part of the development team working on Chrismas Day to handle releases issues...
Releasing the day before a holyday where every company usually closes is like a Big NO-NO for software...

Yep, Blizzard always makes sure they hit their release targets. I'd say this one's in the bag. Closed beta will launch on december 24, give or take 6 months, assuming they don't cancel the game all together.  And it will rock... when it's ready, which is not something they've ever known ahead of time before.

I hope this is not true. Blizzard-Activision already has enough revenue and I would get confused choosing between Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3. At least release them a year apart.

Great system requirements, Blizzards low system requirements are just one of the many reasons they see massive sales. You can't sell a game to someone if it wont work on their computer.

i flat out refuse to believe a release date of this year. but thats more because of pessimism - i dont want to believe it so that if (and odds are it wil lbe) untrue, i dont feel hurt as bad.

possibly a beta of some sort to be released this year, but i doubt the full game will be out this soon. i just hope that they dont charge to join a beta (aside from the game's price of course)....since i know that would be an easy way to drain the wallet of us Diablo fanatics....
