Just a note on charity
Good charities are far more efficient than the government at providing services due to the lower bureaucracy, volunteer work, and aid from corporations and in some cases they can provide similar services on as little as 10% to 12.5% of the budget that it would take the government. At the same time, when the government does move into an area where there are viable charities people do reduce the amount they’re willing to spend on those charities.
In other words, it is not uncommon for the government to spend more money providing a service that is inferior to what charities were already providing and (at the same time) pushing charities out of the area to the detriment of all.
