Forums - Sony - If Sony is going to do A price drop it should be during Q4 2009

Once Valhalla launches, MS might be able to sell the Arcade at $149 and break even or slightly profit. If Sony cuts price, MS will respond. Likely Q4 prices are $179 and $249 for Arcade and Pro with Sony coming in at $350.

what does everbody mean with MS will react...what react?another price drop?this would be ridicolous...in 2011 when Sony drops the price to 199 what will MS do?reduce the box to 50 dollars or what?

It's actually quite simple.  They will reduce it to around $99-129 for the "Pro" model and discontinue all other models while announcing their next Xbox project.  You are forgetting the 360 has had an extra year in production for costs to lower and 3 years in, half price for the Pro model is not unheard of ($400 to $200 if they cut in response to Sony's).  Believe me, if anyone CAN cut, it's MS.  They can also bundle, throw in a wireless adapter, etc to increase the value.

I think your statements are rather ridiculous, and it's understandable given you have only 7 posts.  If Microsoft has been keeping at 1/2 the price of the PS3 so far, why would it change that tactic to be 1/4 the price of the PS3 if/when the PS3 reaches $199?  A $99-129 console 5 years after it debuted at $400 seems very normal to me.
