Forums - Sony - 20 minutes with Killzone 2 and already two game stopping bugs?

So I picked up Killzone 2 last week on a whim.  The demo wasn't bad and wanted something between Street Fighter IV so I decided to pick up the game.  It had been sitting on my shelf the last week because it turns out I didn't need the SFIV breaks and I started watching Buffy again but I decided to finally actually start it.

I said it before and I do think the game looks fantastic and I absolutely love the opening cut scene where it starts on Earth and goes into space.  That was cool.  I also don't mind the controls a lot except for grenade being R2 (I've wasted so many grenades) but I imagine that can be changed and I'm still fighting with cover a lot though hopefully that will change with practice.

Anyways, onto the topic!

I've spent maybe 20 minutes with the full game single player campaign and I've already encountered two game stopping bugs.

First bug: I was fighting, finished the fight, and the game froze.  I sat waiting for a few minutes thought maybe it was chugging on a load but nothing happened.  The only thing I could do with that one was to just turn off the PS3 and try again.

Second bug: after doing the doofy SIXAXIS wheel turn puzzle and killing the charging Helghast your buddy is supposed to kick open a door for you.  I ran ahead of him and went into the room and started looking at the weapons, when I turned back around my buddy was gone.  When I pressed up on the D-Pad it told me I was supposed to be on the other side of a wall.  I spent a good 10 minutes walking around trying to figure out what I was missing but couldn't d o anything.  I finally reloaded the checkpoint and that time, stayed behind my buddy, and that time he walked over and kicked open the door for me.

I haven't been paying much attention to the Killzone threads but if bugs like those were common I would have thought I'd see them prominently displayed in places like Kotaku but haven't seen them.

Has anyone else experienced things like this?  Am I just that unlucky?

The first thing sounds like just an unlucky freeze, rather than a bug...

An unlucky freeze is a bug...

... Which is a game stopping bug. o_O

Ah.

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Watch my insane gameplay videos on my YouTube page!

Something similar happened to me in Gear of War 2. Somewhere in the beginning, Dom blocked the door and I couldn't get out and fight the Locusts. He wouldn't move. I guess AI partners are a recipe for game breaking glitches, sometimes.

I've had a freeze that occured immediately after an explosion because there were so many enemies which was just after a game save. It kept happening immediately after I reloaded the save. I had to restart that level lol. I've gotten used to these things.

Major framerate drops were common in cod4 as well but sometimes the game is too sweet to give up on. Most of these seem due to hardware chug so I guess the ps3 needs more power afterall lol.

Things would be so much simpler if they just let us kill our buddies.  :-p

Though there was a fun exploit in Gears 1 where you could beat the final boss on the hardest difficulty without a problem.  You just tell Dom to run ahead and come back so he stays between two barriers until the boss finally kills him.  The boss (forgot the name) will try to walk towards you but get stuck on Dom so you're free to just stand there and blast him.

I swear, you have the shittiest luck with these things. :P

My game only froze once, during multiplayer. It also locked up for a number of the people I was playing with.

Scripting also went haywire for me only once, at the end of the... sixth level? When Rico didn't go where he was supposed to.

Edit:  And I wrote that first line before reading your last line.  xD

I could understand the shitty luck I have if I was trying to break the game, but I get these things just through normal play.  ;_;

You should probably just give up on gaming. Save yourself all this trouble.
