Forums - General - The Watchmen Movie is Terrible

To those who haven't read the graphic novel, buy it! There really is little point going to see the film if you haven't read it.

It's only £9.89 on Amazon UK: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Watchmen-Alan-Moore/dp/1852860243/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1236512455&sr=8-1

Or $10.99 from Amazon US: http://www.amazon.com/Watchmen-Alan-Moore/dp/0930289234/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1236512526&sr=1-1

Thank you.

I am now awaiting my copy in the mail.

Just an hour ago I heard my roommate tell her boyfriend "I didn't want to pay fucking $46, so I just read parts of it in the book store."

And now for $14.18 after shipping, it's on its way.

Thank you.

Glad to be of help, you won't be disappointed!

Sucks you have to pay shipping on Amazon US, it's free on orders over £5 in the UK.

There's a reason why Alan Moore doesn't want his comics adapted to movies...

Yeah, and it's most likely called "The League Of Extrordinary Gentlemen"

You said it. League of Extraordianry Gentlemen remains one of the most enjoyable graphic novels ive ever read(except for the Black Dossier), and im still wondering, after all these years, why they couldnt use the real, awesome story for the movie.

The Comic was super long. I figured there was no way to fit it into a feature film, and do the story/characters justice. I'm going to see it on Monday, though. It should be good for what it is. Should've been a mini-series on HBO or something, though.

I went this night... I'm on the fence. There where some parts I greatly enjoyed like the alternating history - the flower girl in front of the MP's really happened... the next sequence did not.

I liked the fight scenes. I liked the ultra violence. But the movie dragged a bit and was sometimes too jumbled, hard to follow. I understand, you can't put the full novel in a movie and from what I heard Snyder did a good job with that but I will not be seeing it again I think.

Also, way too much blue dong.

Funny thing was, my mate thought it was the worst movie he had ever seen.

And I bet he never read the novel. Right?

I thought the ultra violence and fight scenes sort of missed the point of the novel, which was more about implied violence and the fact that these are nominally normal people going around doing crazy things. Ozymandias should be the only uber bad-ass in the cast - but if your only experience is with the movie, then it looks like Rorschach could whip Batman's ass so hard that it'd make your head spin.

Well they did that for V for Vendetta a too... now everyone thinks V got superpowers from those expierments when in reality it just made him insane... or the only not insane person.  However you want to look at it.

I read the graphic novel a few years back. It was great, but I bet that back during it's original run, it was ground breaking!

I used to be a jailer, and I stole my favorite line from this book: "I'm not locked in here with you. You're locked in here WITH ME!"

I used to say that all of the time. I just checked out the thread where the OP posted the opening credits. I think that, despite the mixed reviews, this movie may be right up my alley!! I'm tempted to skip work just to see it!

@anyone who has seen the movie
Did Rorschach's interviews with the psychiatrist ,and Jon's recollections chapter make it into the movie?
