Forums - PC - AMD has let me down

^I wish you culd speak in laymans terms.

The only thing those phrases prove to me is that Linux means trouble. Windows is the way to go if you want things to flow easily without a lot of hazzle and frustration.

I just update my Catalist pack every three or so months, I get a nice performance boost for the latest games and everything works perfectly in Xp.

Sorry for the technicalities, that will teach you to not call Linux garbage in a geek thread ;)

Seriously, nothing of what I said should have relevance for the final user. It should be the job of your Linux distributor to keep the drivers up-to-date automatically. That's even easier under a Linux distribution like Ubuntu than in Windows, because when you check for updates (like the Windows update) all drivers are also updated as well as all installed applications.

That is, unless AMD makes a choice like they did, and the distributor has no way to update the driver.

I hope that's clearer.
