what the fuck... This is push it to the limit

Tekken is gonna be epic. I hope they don't gimp the ps3 version because they have to shrink it to fit on a dvd. I hope they just gimp the 360 version if they have to and not let both versions be affected.

I don't buy it. Namco couldn't push any system to its limit. I think it's arrogant BS.

Kinda random comment? Namco can't push a system? Arrogant BS how?

Keep in mind that, if you answer, I don't have any smoke to blow, so it'll have to be a real discussion.

Because it's like they are saying, oh yeah baby, we maxed the Xbox 360 out..  we are bad ass.  Gears 2? Nope, tekken did it.

Like I said, I just don't buy it.  Namco games are pretty good for the most part but when was the last time a Namco game dropped your jaw to the floor and redefined what a system was capable of.  Like it was said earlier, Tekken isn't exactly known for amazing graphics. Gameplay maybe but graphics are usually anywhere from acceptable to pretty good.

Keep in mind that meanwhile Microsoft is claiming it will top Killzone 2 with upcoming titles.  I just seriously doubt they were talking about a Tekken game.

Tekken 3 and Tekken 5 are both some of the best looking games on their respective consoles.

I wondered, has anyone noticed that all top graphics 360 games are between 2-4 player coop on the same console?

People go on about PS3 graphics, but compare games which should look alot better.

Halo 3 was coop for 4 player splitscreen, yet people complained the graphics werent that amazing.

Gears of War 2 is coop 2 player split screen.

People compare the likes of MGS4, Uncharted and Killzone 2 which are all single player only games on one console.

Now either these PS3 games would look worse if they had split screen campaign same console, or Halo 3 and Gearas of War 2 would look much better if they were single player only.

People forget things like this and play the whole put another console down tune.

It's sad and pathetic. I look forward to seeing single player only games on 360 like Alan Wake, Mass Effect 2, Splinter Cell Conviction for decent devs to show what the 360 is capable of without Coop needing engine.

Or maybe we can reserve adjectives like "sad and pathetic" for more important things in life, and simply compare 1-player game mode with 1-player game mode and 2-player coop mode with 2-player coop mode.

If a game hasn't a coop mode, you are entitled to rant about it. But it's not like the developers of Halo 3 or Gears 2 not developing their engine enough to top KZ2's graphics in single player mode is any way less concrete than KZ2 degrading visually under their level in coop mode, if it had one.

On the contrary I'd say that the first is an objective fact that happened in the real world, whereas the latter is only your speculation taking place, well, somewhere else.

I too look forward to playing Alan Wake and ME2 on my PC, talking of which multiplatform titles like these are probably not the best place to look for real hardware straining efforts.

I'm calling bullshit on this. Gears of War 2 has much better graphics than Tekken 6. This guy is full of it.

Yes But not 60FPS , no?

Trust me. When Tekken 6 comes out on both systems you'll see what i'm talking about. Do you know how many games these Sony-centrists stated wouldn't last on the 360 in terms of power?

Don't get me wrong , im not saying 360 is being pushed, but they (Namco-Bandai) were having trouble keeping it at those level of graphics @ 60FPS on PS3 (Lead Platform), And since they are porting it to 360, it "MAY" cause a few hiccups

I get you man, but i've heard it all before. Neither systems have been pushed yet. These devs are just trying to sell their product as something superior to the rest or put one system over the other. If they didn't th ink the 360 could handle it they wouldn't have gone multiplatform. They were already finished with the arcade version of the game. You do the math bro.

The arcade version ran on what was basically a ps3.

And the BR version was upgraded to further utilise the SPUs

The FMVs are probably one of the big challenges to fit on the dvd.

My point was games like Halo 3 and Gears 2 look the same in one player as in coop (albeit smaller). The engine was made that way to cope with that. If Killzone 2 for instance was made for coop I dont doubt at all that the engine would have to be greatly trimmed to display the images twice (bearing in mind Killzones framerate drops to 20-25 at times).

I'm merely pointing this out to the fanboyish comments like, 360 cant do GT5 or Killzone 2. It's laughable. People forget what they want to, to make their fanboy dreams come true.

Heres a thought buy both consoles and be happy. I couldnt live without one or the other for me to be a gamer. Now being a fanboy is different alltogether.

The only problems Tekken 6 on the 360 is having is the DVD space to fit all the high quality movies on as it doesn't leave much space for the actual game data, it said this in the article so not sure why everyone is saying the 360 has reached its graphical peak with this game as it isn't about the graphics, it's about the dvd space,

Tekken 6 pushing 360, not a chance lol
There are many many games already out on 360 that look a lot better than Tekken 6.

Since Gears 2 is seems to be the new marketing buzz...the 360 limits.. ahahah..what a joke...

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

Again, it's those games' developers responisbility if the engine does not scale to offer better visuals in single player than it does in coop. That's a fact.

That Killzone 2 would have done the same if it had coop instead of scaling gracefully? That's your opinion.

And yes, fanboys can be downright annoying. Instead of speculating about possible pixels and hypothetical triangles, I'll just wait for the metaphorical pudding.

According to its executive producer, Tekken 6's graphics approach the limit of what the Xbox 360 is capable of, and the beat-'em up's technology may affect development of the console's successor

"It is a challenge to fit this game onto one DVD and to make sure the data is read at a fast rate," Katsuhiro Harada told X360. "It is essential to utilize the 360’s functions and strengths to the fullest in order to accomplish the same goal. I believe that the data and experience gained during development may affect development of the next iteration of the console."

http://xbox-360.nowgamer.com/news/249/next-xbox-could-be-affected-by-tekken-6-tech

Wow,every game seems to be pushing the poor 360 to its limits,I bet DOOM would...

People saying that 360 cant do games like KZ2 and GT5P,look at KZ2 it only looks 10% than Gears of War with twice as long dev date, and Gears  can do SPLIT SCREEN,So Gears graphics arnt maxed out yet.

@Garnett
I admire the fact that your technical and artistic sensitivity is so advanced that you can say that a game looks exactly 10% better than another. They should probably hire you for development in QA, so that they can stop pumping time and money in development when they, say, have a product that looks 17% better than the direct competition...

Alas, your talent is not as good when it comes to development times, because you seem to have forgotten that Epic has spent uncounted man-years developing the engine Gears is based on.

PS: I wonder - if we call fanboys those fanatical lovers of a single platform, of whom we pity the misidirected dedication, should we find a term to define somebody whose signature is only focused on bashing and loathing a game they can simply choose to not play?
Should we stage an intervention, as a community, find a sponsor and help them out of their tunnel of irrational hatred? These people are clearly in distress, and they are out there.
