Forums - General - Morality of Killing Animals

@Rubang I fear for all spiders in your path lol.

Around the Network

by the tenants of my faith which are the base for my morals i have been put on this earth in the top tier of the animal kingdom and given sway over the flora and fauna of this world (by me i mean mankind)

there for i deem it an immoral act to do anything less

however just b/c I have that standing does not mean I need to abuse that spot, I am a firm believer that (if not always practitioner) we should only take what we need and not always what we want

I'm a vegan because I don't need animal products. Its not moral if you don't need it. I live in a country where there are simple alternatives to everything, thus I don't need it. It would be different if I lived in a third world country.

Now here's a question for you:

There is a dead rabbit on the ground. Someone (the person who killed the first rabbit) holds a gun to another rabbits head and says to you that if you that if you don't eat the dead rabbit, he'll kill the one he's holding.

What would you do as a vegan? is availability of substitutes your only reason?

You know, that scenario is just gross. We aren't talking a piece of fried chicken here. Rabbits are rodents. You are asking if I would eat a dead rodent, raw? NO.

rabbits are lagomorphs not rodents.

I beleive it is alright to kill any non endangered animal if you are going to use it, and if you do not cause it undo suffering in doing so.

I don't have any qualms killing animals, or that they are killed for me.

As long as I yell in advance: "Watch out, it is comming straight for us!"

well, would it be morally right for a hungry dog to eat you?

Of course.

Ahhhh what would we do without South Park:

Signature goes here!

I really don't have anything against hunting per se. But I'm not a hunter which is pretty strange for someone living where I do. But sometimes you'll catch a hunting show on the radio where they are mixing the Bible and hunting, and I don't particularly agree with that.

Heavens to Murgatoids.

Meat-eaters kill more plants AND animals than vegetarians. And waste way more clean water, which is pretty bad since we don't have enough for humans anyway.

I'm cutting back on cow because they waste the most water and hurt the atmosphere the most, but I still eat meat. Just not half as much as I used to. The only time I absolutely need cow is when I'm at a taco truck that has lengua.

I'm pretty much the same at this point.

The only times i eat meat are if i have a major craving...

Having dinner at someones house or an event...

or i'm at work and in a hurry.

Since the vegetarian stuff takes like 15+minutes to make while the regular stuff is always ready to go.

Actually there is a fairly good arguement that god would perfer it that people be vegetarians.

Lots of early Christian sects were vegetarian by law actually.

There is some evidence that Peter and Matthew were vegetarians.

Even some that jesus himself was.

The most notable one being...

And God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food. And to every beast of the earth, and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food".
