Tenchu tiptoes to PSP

Ubisoft brings Shadow Assassins to Sony portable this month in North America, next month in Europe.

Although the Tenchu series debuted on (and enjoyed much of its success on) the original PlayStation, Sony's current systems are the only major console and handheld platforms not to play host to the series in North America. Tenchu: Time of the Assassins for the PSP made it to Japanese and European shelves in 2006, but a planned North American release by Sega was quietly deep-sixed when nobody was looking.

That oversight is set to be rectified, given that Ubisoft is ready to bring Tenchu: Shadow Assassins to North American PSPs this month, with a European release to follow in April. Perhaps in response to the critical reception of Shadow Assassins on the Wii, Ubisoft is touting "the accuracy of the PSP system's control buttons" in letting players control the action.

Originally developed by series creator Acquire, Shadow Assassins follows the ninja Rikimaru and Ayame as they attempt to ensure stability in feudal Japan by carrying out a series of assassinations. For more on Shadow Assassins, check out GameSpot's review of the Wii edition of the game.

...yet another PSP / Wii game.  This is becoming an awesome trend for the PSP.  On was on the fence, with regards to the Wii version, but I will almost definately score the PSP version now.

That was quick.

I hope this trend continues. Especially with the JRPG lineup of the Wii...

I think I may still have to score DQ X on the Wii, but most of the rest I could definately go for a portable version.

glad i didnt support this!

He's saying that he doesn't want to buy a game that was ported to another system from Wii. Imo that is a bad reason not to support a game, especially considering that it was built for the Wii and ported to the PSP not the other way around.

i can almost bet the game was made with the limitations of the psp in mind.

Eh... the PSP version was obviously in development at the same time.  Are we actually certain the Wii version was "ported" to the PSP, or are you just assuming that was the case?  Perhaps the engine was co-developed, and instead the games assets were merely toned down for the PSP?  Seems more likely to me.

If that was the case why didn't they announce it with the Wii version? Either way it isn't a PSP>Wii port.

Please go on an explain why you think this. The graphics are well over the average for the Wii, as is the Controls. Even if it had the PSP's limitations in mind it is still better than the average Wii game.
