Didn't Obama promise no earmarks during his campain? This stimulus has record earmarks in it.

Yeah and his sheep...ahem supporters are seeing their messiah as just the regular politician he is x2 w/ the Chicago sleaze.

@ Bitmap: Nuclear fusion is an infrastructure example that I am use all the time to my fellow GOP members as an example of resourceful energy here @ home.  That kind of spending takes precedence in my mind over mice studies.

Edit: This is not medicinal money for research mice.  This is $30,000,000 in a salt water marsh package that includes protection for the salt marsh harvest mouse.

This is of course thrown in w/ an environmental package but come on people.  We humans are trying to shore up financial capital, not keep these mice in nice little homes in the damn Bay!

@ halogmer don't forget the all important couple million towards contraceptives.

I'm optimistic about the end results of our little economic disaster.

I'm sure we are resilient enough to survive. Its a good lesson in frugality for us all. We needed it.

ugh, over the next few days Iv been seeing the failling of a capitalist system, I mean why is money the driving force in our lives?

Oh, dear. It seems that free market fundamentalism, a deeply self-destructive system which made a tiny elite extremely wealthy while plundering most people on the planet for 400 years, a system which created such miseries as global slavery (millions dead and impoverished), genocidal famines (15-25 million in South Asia alone just by the British Empire), and titanic wars between imperialist nations, as well as planetary ecological destruction (global warming), has gone and... self-destructed.

It won't be missed.

c'mon man, lets talk policies and limit the mudslinging. How would you feel if we referred to the last president as that "village idiot" or even your idol as "that wooden dummy"?

I would LOVE to go back and pull out all the earmarks Bush had in the past 8 years, but it wouldn't really be constructive to do so.

Not to mention that most of the things that people have complained in the stimulus bill when COMBINED only total less than 1% of the entire package. I mean seriously, if you are going to attack the stimulus bill, how about you focus on the 99% that is there rather than the 1%.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

actually I approve of Obama's support for environment protection. I am a republician but I dont want to see the natural balance of the world turn upside down or at least see the US try to prevent it. There are many ways to kill the eco-systems of the world. Letting a mouse die off does have negative effects across its region.

Still I guess I do go against Republician standard being pro stem-cell research, pro-choice on abortion, and pro-stop giving tax breaking to rich jack a**es.

@ That guy: I wasn't mudslinging and to the last part, I wouldn't really mind. You have your own opinion. I really didn't like how Bush handled the economic situation in 2008 by all the bailouts.

Its actually benefiicial on your part to not call your political opponent a sleazy porkspending socialist. Even if you think it to be so, doing so simply undermines your own credibility.

Its a logical fallacy called "Ad hominem" and it basically means diverting attention away from the issue by attacking the person.
