Well, it's easy to explain why: reviewers have watered down a 10/10 rating so much that it really means nothing anymore, other than it's the best game of the month. In a system where 7.5 is average, and 9s and 10s are thrown around like candy, of course you can't give a game that you think stands above the rest a standout score. But I don't think it's a 10. There is no game, nor will there ever be a game, that is a perfect 10. People who enjoy the type of game something is universally can not find flaw in what a 10 should be. I am an RPG fan, but yes, I can find a flaw in every single RPG I play. Now, if 5.5 were an average game (the average of 10 and 1), which it should be, a great game could be given a 9.5, and really stand out. But alas, numbers are so inflated that it can't be done anymore. All that can be done now is giving games that a reviewer has a vendetta against, low scores. Thus, they seem "horrible", not even able to get "average". But that's another topic... For the record, I've not played this game, nor is it my style of game. Thus, I'm not going to say whether it's junk or the best shooter ever yet made. All I say with conviction is that it is not a perfect game. |
You don't know sony defense force but it's in general concidered a good laugh whatever they post. However killzone 2 is actually in my opinion worth a 10. I'll explain why.
While i can clearly see your point i don't believe that a 10 should stand for more than simply something extra-ordenary. An amazing game in any genre deserves a 10 from me. It doesn't have to be perfect to get the perfect score. Because perfection is a point of view.
