There have certainly been Japanese "style" RPGs from Western developers... Secret of Evermore? Penny Arcade Adventures? Black Sigil? Others?

Something?

Sudeki on Xbox/PC.

That one always throws me, because it's another developer who shares their name with a noted Japanese developer (like Monolith).  Why must they do this?  :)

Hates Nomura.

Ok, I'm just going to throw some things out there.

Japanese people did not create these labels. Notice how the labels are using English characters - A-Z. Note how Japanese people use entirely different characters.

Clearly, these labels were created by English speakers, not the Japanese.

Exactly, and even when we write the sounds of this characters in our alphabet (we call this romaji), we get "nihon-jin roru pureingu geemu" (NRPG)...

Fable 2 was made by a European company...

American RPG and Europe RPG just sound stupid. It's best to categorize them as Western since many are similar while Japanese usually have a different style to them.

so when china comes out with an rpg one of these days will it be called a eastern rpg, i think not!!!!

Then we'll just call that a CRPG.

A CRPG is a computer RPG. Going with NRPG for Japan, we could have ZRPG for China.

Currently playing: Wii Fit / The Sims 3

Try  PrizeRebel , it could make you  rich ! I have  $15.80 USD  so far. I  love  BengaBenga' Most Wante lists.

I think they should all be called rpg's.

The Japanese developers aren't anymore distinct then western developers. They just have different cliche's.

If it is similar to WRPGS, it ill be called a WRPG

If it is similar to JRPGs, it ill be called a JRPG

If it is something new entirely, it will be considered a game that is of no one particular genre

If that last one happens, and then many Chinese devs start making similar games, then we need a new label

But the first "JRPG" I ever played was Ultima.  Those games which were "Japanese styled" first existed on western consoles.

Ah, Ultima. Great games.

CORP POR!
