Forums - Microsoft - Could Star Ocean be better then TOV?!!!

It wouldn't be hard to top Vesperia honestly. The game has a ton of problems. The story is so confused and boring I have a hard time trying to remember why any of the characters give two shits about what they are doing. One of the main characters should be able to orrder half the empire around on their whim, and yet consistently just whines about all the problems. A good quarter of the game could have been cut out by one character just laying down the law which would be entirely justified.

That is not the end of the characters being complete retards during the story either. The whole situation with Yorgmen had me screaming at my TV. They constantly hint at little shit and then just completely forget about it for half the fucking game. Instead you get to play the game of chasing pink haired nobles wild whims into a series of random crap entirely unrelated to anything else going on in the story.

Then there is the fact that you can't skip any sections of dialogue. died to he boss? Tough shit. Here is another 10 minutes of crap you already know. And 10 minutes isn't even the longest it can go. Yes, you can put it on easy but that only helps after you realized a boss can kick your ass. Never mind the collection of obnoxious as al hell to fight flying creatures that pop out of every corner and slowly annoy you into quitting.

The game isn't terrible, but its not good. It really strikes me as your typical mediocre JRPG. Hopefully Star Ocean can one up that,. I plan on trying out the game soon, but am feeling a little catious with JRPGs at the moment. Sorry for the mini-rant but I had to get it off my chest.

It should be because it is from Square. Both The Last Remnant and Infinite Undiscovery should have also been better than any other JRPGson the 360. Speaking of The Last Remnant in their 2008 Year in Review issue, Play magazine says that if you do a harddrive install on your 360, then The Last Remnant magically transforms from the game that got panned by so many critics into one of the most underrated games of '08.

Heavens to Murgatoids.

star ocean 4 is the main reason i got a 360 arcade for... vesperia has nothing on star ocean imo... never will...

The fun factor is definitely better than ToV. The battle system is perfection on SO4. The dialogue and VO is cringe-worthy on SO4. My only complaint about ToV was the final part of the game
between fighting Alexei and taking down the Adephagos
dragged on a little too much.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
