My first experience with mmos started years and years ago with the original eq. I started playing just as they released the kunark expansion. I really look back with fond memories of eq. Due to a timing issue I was unable to play when the level cap was rasied to 70. Coming back to eq after a break with everyone done leveling and far ahead of you was very disheartening so I got into wow beta and played WoW for a 2 years. I left wow, to me it became more and more like an arcade game and lost its magic. I got into Lotro beta, bought the retail. Become one of the first people to hit 50 on my server.. I soon lost interest. It’s a great game to be sure, but not enough to hold me. So now I’m searching.. I’m searching for something to captivate me. I am currently in Pirates of the Burning sea beta. Well, lets just say its not going to work out. I just recently did the free eq2 trial but theres a serious lack of population to group with at lower levels and the whole thing just doesn’t feel right. My main question is, have any of you played Vanguard? If so how is it? Also whom ever is in betas for up and coming mmos are you very impressed with any of them? ~Elendar

don't go vanguard, it's worse than WoW and LotR

avoid vanguard.

they are just in the process- or almost int he process of consolidating servers.

from 13 down to 4 , and if they got rid of the european only server and the pvp server, they could knock it down to 2. reports i hear are around 20k subscriptions

the game HAD (stress the word had) potential. since the release month, there have been 2 patches.. and the game still isn't good.

sigil blew a wad of cash on the game(poorly) and released a buggy, incomplete, ugly on playable settings, poor running game.

ie a product that is WOEFULLY inadequate for the current marketplace for MMO development.

eq2 is a significantly better product than vanguard (eq2 was similar to vanguard at release...just more Finished- and they have scott hartsman at the helm and he is by far the best Dev that soe has)

try guildwars that one is free(just box price for costs) and has a few expansions,

you could try D&D online that one has a ~75-100k subscriber base..

or you could try and get into the Age of conan or the warhammer beta's

me i still play wow- almost nightly.

I've been trying to get into the Warhammer online beta for about 2-3 months now and they only let in 20 or so a month and there are 300k beta applicants. Wish i could shed some light into that one. I'll probably get that when it comes out next year.

Hi, this is Vince with Shamwow.

Try Eve!

eve-online.com

It's not your average MMO so I would sign up for the 7 day trial before purchasing it

I currently play WoW. I used to play EQ2 and frankly preferred it at the beginning when it was buggy to how it works now. I played Eve-online for about 3 months and its pretty fun if you like Sci-Fi space type stuff.

I tried to beta vanguard but managed to last only 10 minutes before the server and graphics lag made me leave, glad I didn't put more effort into it based on the reports. Thats a shame, it had lots of potential.

I also demo'd the D&D online MMO and didn't like it much. Didn't have enough of the classic D&D play and was a bit frustrating to play at times.

Thats all the MMO's I've played recently, sorry =)
