Wait, what is this yellow light thing exactly? I have a 60gb myself, would suck if it died on me.
Also, does the problem have anything to do with the HD? If not why not just take the HD out and transfer the saves? (if that's possible...)
What makes the 60 gigs different outside of BC? Why are they failing?

sorry man i also have the 60g im going to back up my ps3 on the original 60g HDDnow b/c ive upgraded to a 160g i need to buy the external case for the HDD to do it though

Mine went last summer. Replacement was free even though it was out of warranty, and I had a new console in four days (I phoned Saturday afternoon, the replacement arrived Tuesday morning).
Also, to keep your saves, just take your HDD out. That's what I did.
also did u keep ur ps3 standing up or had it lying down did u clean it frequently

oh yeah and any good ideas on how to clean the thing ? i mean the insides bound to attract a lot of dust.
