Forums - Gaming - People quitting online matches on Street Fighter IV should be punished.

Personally there should be Win/Lose/Draw/Total/Disconnect.

Starting at 100% a Disconnect is just a Disconect.
As your Win increase over your losses then the % deacreases. If the % dips past the Disconnect=Lose percentage then each of your Disconnects counts as a Loss. Obviously as your Loss increases your % rebalances.

This way the % value can be coordinated with a value that represent people who disconect intentionaly.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

@tremble: Well, you can't press pause or go to the menu during a match online. People quit by reseting their router, unplugging the Ethernet cable , closing the game via XMB, or manually shutting off the console.

Anyways, I've had several people quit during online matches, it gets annoying at first but you get used to it. It sucks because it starts becoming difficult to gain BP since I gain nothing if I win and I lose BP when I lose a match. This is why I rather play people on my friends list.

Capcom should make it were you actually get to see the records of your opponents (wins, losses and disconnects) before the game starts. This way, if they have a large amount of disconnects, you could just simply avoid them.

On Xbox Live, just report them or avoid them. After enough reports, they're banned. Quick and painless.

Not sure how it works since I don't care for Street Fighter, but if it does rounds, if you quit before the 1st round no penalty, if you quit AFTER the first round it counts as a loss. That's how it works in NHL 09, you can quit in the first 5 minutes and be fine, otherwise it counts regardless.

^^^ That's how it SHOULD work I mean, if they were to fix it.

It's a shame that people do that. Talk about sore losers. I played SF4 online for the first time and lost my first match pretty badly but kept playing the match anyway. I was worried when in the next round and was winning, he might quit or at the very least, stop playing me. Nope, he kept playing me as we exchanged wins and losses. We played seven with him getting the better of me, winning four of them.

I'm glad my first online SF4 experience was a good one, hopefully I'll have mostly good experiences. You bet though I'll give a bad review and or report any quitters.

I'll come up with something better eventually...

Totally agreed. This is a first for capcom as all previous SF online games had either the both fighters losing a match or the one that dropped. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!?!?!

Two systems that worked well in my experience:
Starcraft
In your profile you had win, losses and draws (or something like that). If you saw someone with a lot of draws in his/her profile, you knew he was a quitter.

Warcraft
A disconnect counts as a loss.

Disconnects/quitting should be counted as a loss and if you leave a game you lose. It is best to lose with honour then to spoil someone else's fun by disconnecting.

Nope, people who sit there and turtle with Sagat or Ryu or Ken should be sent in front of a fireing squad and taken out on live national television.

Oh yea and Cannon Drill -> cannon Spike spammers should be castrated even if physical requirements say otherwise.

IS that extreme enough?

I'm Unamerica and you can too.
