Forums - Gaming - What do Conduit/KZ2 have in common? Both suffered due to focus on graphics

@NJ5, Ok, Lets hope GG make their Coding even more effecient to implement splitscreen for KZ3 (And same for Conduit sequal if it gets a sequal )

i was under the impression that they would be adding splitscreen to killzone 2 via a patch. i dont have any links (my brother said he read it somewhere on the interwebz), but hope they do. id love to play co-op with my bro when he picks kz2 up. the game looks insane.

I dont think its a problem not having slitscreen. Im sure there's others out there who would rather have a Killzone 2 with no slitscreen than eg~ a COD:WAW With it.

I've never been a big fan of split-screen anything. Call me selfish but I like having control of the whole screen.

That's not the useful comparison here. The real question is would you rather have KZ2/Conduit as they are or with slightly worse graphics and offline/online splitscreen added in?

I never understood what was the big deal with splitscreen.
Why would I want to loose half of my TV screen to play with someone else when all consoles come with online now and I can much more comfortably play co-cop with someone over the network? Especially when I can use a headset to communicate with them...

Splitscreen always seemed to be like the poor alternative for online play and this gen online is a feature that comes with every console.

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

Many good games don't have 'split screen'. Especially First Person shooters. Team Fortress 2 doesn't have split screen is that an issue? Does that have an effect on your enjoyment of the game?

Many games that some people don't consider that good (Warhawk) have Split Screen.

I enjoy co-op and off-line multi-player as well.

But acting like split-screen is some major missing ingredient, end all be all is an out-wright lie. Quite honestly, most people don't even have large enough TV's to make it enjoyable. There is nothing worse than trying to play a split-screen game on a TV that's too small.

Well at least PS3 can play KZ2 without system failure. Hows the Lost And the Damned? Seems the only thing that pushed is Microsofts Stock down.

Money and Time are not limitless supplies.

The more time and money that goes into graphics the less go into gameplay, story, voice acting, etc...

I think they (High Voltage) are betting on online multiplayer being a more demanded aspect than splitscreen (which, for these days, seems to be right (at least on HD consoles)). Also, another reason why was to defeat the poor-Wii-graphics stigma, and thus differentiate themselves from most of the rest of 3rd part Wii games.

While I love splitscreen (especially co-op), I think HV made the right choice to focus on graphics for there first Conduit game. If they hadn't, it would probably be much less well-received (assuming it would be received well in the first place, of course). If there is a sequal, I would much prefer splitscreen over improved graphics.

Not that I disagree with you on that the focus on graphics in general has detracted from a probably better gameplay experience, but I think HV's choice here isn't necessarily a telltale sign of what's to come for Wii FPS's, being that this time it was probably more of a necessity than anything else that drove them to this choice.

To lavish praise upon this title, the assumption of a common plateau between player and game must be made.  I won't open my unworthy mouth.
