Forums - Gaming - Has Tomb Raider Underworld been a success?

Tomb Raider Underworld has sold .76 m on PS3, .65 m on 360, and, .23 m on the Wii. Tomb Raider remains among my favorite game series, so I'm hoping these numbers indicate that TRU has been successful and that there will be more great adventures to come for Lara Croft and her fans.

well i know that it was profitable.but i also know that it didnt reach there sales expectations

Game was fun. Id rent another tomb raider again...

It has certainly underperformed but over 1m across all system will still warrent another addition (it was also on PS2 and of course PC).

In fact rumour is Eidos has canned other projects to concentrate fully on Tomb Raider and is looking to make the series more marketable to women. But that was before SE decided to buy them out.

Not a success according to Eidos, but for a franchise that's supposed to be "dead" (according to some media outlets), it did well enough for itself.

From the way Eidos keeps talking about 'rebooting' the franchise, I think they were hoping for better.

But I guess that decision will soon be in Wada's hands.

Next time, they'll maybe propose a demo for ps3 owners ...

Why?  Did you see how it sold better on the PS3?  That's because the demo sucked (camera issues) and 360 owners avoided it - despite having extra (downloadable) content PS3 owners don't.

I enjoyed the demo. I mainly downloaded it to see how Lara would look in Underworld and to see how well the game would look in comparison to Uncharted, and I wasn't disappointed by any means. I wish they would release a New Prince of Persia demo on Live. The week I thought it would be on there, they only had a second run of the Too Human demo instead.

If it were a better game, it might have sold better. I was so disappointed.
