Police: Man stabs son for wearing hat in church

BALTIMORE -Police said a 58-year-old man stabbed his teenage son after he refused to take off his hat at church earlier in the day. The father and his 19-year-old son got into an argument on Sunday afternoon. That's when police said the father went to a car, got a knife and stabbed his son in the left buttock and fled.

The son was taken to University of Maryland Medical Center for treatment. The father's name was withheld pending his arrest.

This has nothing to do with faith. This has nothing to do with Christianity/the Bible, even.

This has everything to do with oppressive non-Biblical traditions that people blindly follow, as well as what appears to be significant psychological issues.

You state this like it's fact. You don't know the situation, you don't know if his personal beliefs had anything do with what happened, and calling unstated non bible traditions 'opressive' is just plainly, bullshit. If you're going to insult a non-biblical tradition do it directly instead of making a ambiguous statement.

So, trying to make people believe if they don't believe some woo-woo story about a 2000 year old dead man who 'sacrificed' himself to us, then resurected himself(how was it a sacrifice if he resurected himself?), they're going to hell? That's not opressive?

The christian God sounds like an opressive cunt to me, more so than these ambiguous 'non-biblical' traditions that you imply people 'blindly' follow. People follow things for difference reasons. You shouldn't infer on the reasons people believe anything, and you shouldn't be a 'idea bigot' and put all non-biblical traditions into a category of 'blindly following'.

Implying that this has anything to do with non biblical traditions is bull shit. You shouldn't infer on anything that you don't have the full story about, and this story was so short, there was no need for offensive religious inferences.

But anyways I'm sure you're aware of the fact that the thread title was a joke and I do agree with you on the point of psychological issues.

as far as i am aware, it doesnt tell people to take their hats off  while in church in the bible.  so hes absolutely correct and you have been reported for your disgusting, ignorant comments.

It's likely the man has had problems with his son before. That stabbing was most likely the result of a lot of built up tension. But regardless, the father's focus on his son to such a heightened degree is not psychologically healthy. It could also stem from his father generally having too much pride or feeling a lack of respect from everything around him, resulting, again, in a build up of tension within himself rather than specifically with his son. Of course even this is only on the surface, there could be many factors causing this such as alcohol abuse, drugs, work environment, a really bad marriage, scoffing from peers, etc.

and no, this doesn't have much to do with faith.  We all have our little lives that these conditions occur in, some have an element of spirituality, some don't, but what we do with our situation is definitely a result of our own specific psychology, which can also be why we are in the situation to begin with, but they are not always directly related.  If they WERE completely linked in this case, then you would see many people stabbing their sons in the butts for wearing hats in church.

Woggle, I am thoroughly impressed with your steadfast commitment to tolerance, peace, and understanding. First, you called the bible a "foul piece of shit" Now, you call the Christian God an "offensive cunt." You truly are a paragon of peace and tolerance.

Anyway, this guy must have forgotten that it is spare the rod and not spare the knife.

I'll except my ban like a man, for trolling and religiously offensive comments, though I'm not sorry, because I understand what I was thinking at the time. I found his statements as offensive towards secular ideas, mainly from the 'blindly following' part. Now I realize I was just being overly touchy.

That would be "accept" your ban, but it doesn't make you a man. Cutting down other people's structures of faith and/or belief just further verifies that you do not have the capacity to be a man, just another useless drug addict.

Given the fact that the criminal that stabbed his son did indeed go against the Bible, I think that theonestarr is correct.

Wesley, why are you commenting on a topic about faith & the Bible without quoting anything in the Bible yourself? Context may help understand that Jesus was firmly against violence. In the Garden of Gethsemane, Peter cut Malchus' ear off when they were attempting to capture Jesus. What did Jesus do? Heal his ear, and condemn Peter's action. The same kind of action that Jesus would take with this obviously dumb individual.

If you'd like to discuss this topic, and the Biblical law(s) of violence, feel free to. Otherwise, your only hurting yourself by attacking something you seem to not understand.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

The man believes in Jesus enough to stab his own son but not to practice his lessons or emulate him in any fashion... that's retarded.

@bardicverse

Your ignorant comment is offensive to me as a recreational drug user. Don't be a hypocrite.

PS. Do not misuse the term addict, marijuana is a physically non-addictive substance and thus its users are not addicts.

You can become addicted to things without the said things having the necessary chemicals. Do you think that gambling addicts get injected with nicotine every time they use the slots?
