It would be no big problem to make all titles downloadable. The problem is that it would require a huge hard drive on the PS3, which would cancel out most or all of the savings from not having the Blu-Ray drive.

In other words I call BS, but not for the same reason as most people in the thread (ridiculously assuming that it wouldn't play games... wake up guys!).

how would that even work? it wouldn't be compatible with old games. And would devs have to make the game on blu ray and DVD for the 22 million userbase with blu ray PS3 and the new userbase with DVD PS3's?

Sweet! I was waiting for a PS3 that did not play any existing PS3 retail games or Blu-ray movies. I might just wait for the model without a Blu-ray and hard drive for only $200!
