The PS3 comes with the BR-player, and allways will be.

I am no expert but I don't see how this is possible. A CD player can't play DVDs, a DVD player can't play blu-ray discs. There are hardware restrictions.

This only works backwards (ie, DVD player can play CDs etc.,) - as far I know.

Come to think of it they can do a Xbox360 core style system - no wi-fi, no hard disk, but....???/

And to make game development cheaper, Nintendo is going to release all their new Wii games on cassette tapes. A console to play these games is not in their plans in this time.
