Forums - Microsoft - I think my Xbox 360 crapped out

@ Lost tears of Kain

Yes what im saying though, is probably a majority of failing is people are just idiots

I am sorry, but I find that a rather foolish statement. Most consumers don't scan the web to know why the XBox 360 should get special treatment (and often even that doesn't help). Many people often get a game console to not have the worries like on PC, with virusses, trojans, driver issues, minimum specs, etc. They just want to play games, worry free!

These people are not idiots!

It depends what you mean by the word idiot and what the definition of the word "is" is. ;)

If you mean less than average intelligence than you would be implying that a large segment of the 360 owning population is of below average intelligence.

If you mean that they are of average intelligence than you check out the 360 elite. :P

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

I find it humorous that MikeB is arguing that Lost Tears of Kain didn't own his console for 2 years, when MikeB was the only one saing he even owned it for 2 years.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Two other games which have crapped out a lot of XBox 360s are Gears of War (that was the case for me) and Forza Motorsport 2.

The reason why Bioshock, Gears of War and Forza Motorsport (maybe also Oblivion) have crapped out so
many consoles is being their use up a lot of GPU power thus the console gets hotter compared to if users
would play simple XBox Live games such as Pacman or Geometry Wars.

MikeB.  Did it ever occur to you that the reason why Bioshock, GOW, and Forza Motorsport were reported as the game being played when the console broke was primarily because they happen to be highly sold titles, quite popular to play, and recent titles meaning they are more likely to be in use?  Obviously XBLA games are often not pushing the GPU at all but saying one of these titles bricked the console is just indicates cluelessness.  ANY of the major titles out there are going to be pushing the GPU enough that it will produce the same heat.  FEAR, Condemned, Darkness, Lost Planet... pretty much any of these and other major titles are "pushing" the hardware GPU.

Also, posts on the web are worthless, statistically speaking, and with the total number of failed consoles only a fraction actually end up posting on forums.  I wouldn't go around quoting a few people in forums about failed consoles while playing a specific game.  If a million users bought bioshock last week, they are likely playing it and whatever percentage of hardware failures happen this week are naturally going to be highly concentrated on the title du jour.

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)
Systems I've owned: PS2, PS1, Dreamcast, Saturn, 3DO, Genesis, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, GBA, GB, C64, Amiga, Atari 2600 and 5200, Sega Game Gear, Vectrex, Intellivision, Pong.  Yes, Pong.

Wow, I didn't expect fights in this thread. Anyway about the idiot comment, I give my console breaks. I played 3 hours the night before my console got a red light and the next day I only played an hour before it started acting weird and crapping out.

Not only that kn but also the fact. People said that the Nyko Intercooler sucks enegry from the Xbox 360. Where is proof of that? Also there saying Bioshock, Gears of War and Forza Motorsport are making the GPU run hotter?? Can I get a source on this information coming from a Microsoft tech or Epic Games or any of the developers that made those games???

I don't believe none of that stuff, My 360 is still working flawless, I had it since August 16, 2007. And its still running smooth and no problems. Thats because I take good care of my products.

Looks like I have to send my console in for repair. I got error E 74. I called them and did everything they suggested and nothing worked, so now i have to send my console in for repair. Sucks that I can't finish Bioshock but thankfully my warranty is still active, so I don't have pay anything.

WOW. Surprise surprise. Sorry for your misfortune. This is why I'm on the fence about getting a 360.

For the record, my launch day 360 was made in October. I also know people who have working 360's that have been in steady use since late summer '05.
