Forums - Gaming - Why I want Final Fantasy XIII to bomb

....Wow Ill admit I thought that XI and XII were bad but Im reserving judgment until I actually Play XIII. Although I must say the days of me buying anything that said Squaresoft/Square-Enix on it were finished after Final Fantasy XII

Funny thing is I think FFXI is one of the best recent RPG's (even better than WoW), though it could be in no way involved with the Final Fantasy name and I would still think that.

Perhaps the more important question to ask is:

Twesterm, have you ever played a Suikoden game?

I played one of them, but it was supposedly the bad one.  I've always wanted to play Suikoden II, I just haven't gotten the chance.  I found a copy of it one day at Movie Trading Company with case and manuel in mint condition but missed out.  It was only $90 so I went home to get my $80 gift card and came back the next day (it's a 20 minute drive, didn't feel like making it again) and it had been stolen sometime after I left.  ;_;

The last good FF, in my humbly correct opinion, was 15 years ago, in 1994. It was FF6.

Actually FF VI would be included in the 15 years you mentioned because it's anniversary hasn't passed yet. April for Japan and October for the U.S., where you live. You really scared me there into thinking you hated that game. Why would FF have sucked right after the release though? Shouldn't it's mediocrity in your mind start at the release date of the first game you think started it(FF VII)?

I can't really agree with you on everything twest. I thought FFVI and FFIX were both the best in the series.

Though, I can agree that not all of them are up to standard: FFVIII, FFX and FFXII both really weren't my cup of tea and I know a lot of people who feel the same way.

Although, that doesn't mean that no one liked them. Just because they haven't been to your standards, doesn't mean they weren't to someone elses.

There will always be people who hate an FF. There are people who hate FVII, it definitely wasn't my favorite, but yeah.

  • 2010 MUST Haves: WKC, Heavy Rain, GoWIII, Fable III, Mass Effect 2, Bayonetta, Darksiders, FFXIII, Alan Wake, No More Heroes 2, Fragile Dreams: FRotM, Trinity: SoZ, BFBC2.
  • Older Need To Buys: Super Mario Bros. Wii, Mario Kart Wii, Deadspace, Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2.

There is definitely more to list that I want, but that's my main focus there.

Wait... you played suikoden IV?  That's the only one I haven't played...  (Everyone I asked told me to avoid it.)

Actually, I think you do agree with me.  I think FFVI is the best with FFIX being the third and thinnk FFVII, VIII, X, and XII oozing of shit.

Shit, oops.  I just thought "1994 was 15 years ago."  That's all I meant by that.  I didn't mean to confuse everybody into thinking I was not only an elitist, but also an idiot who didn't know fine art when it crawled up my SNES and died.

It's okay, we figured it out.

Barely.

If this thread proves anything, it proves that FF is the most rapidly changing series of all time. Opinions up the wazoo......

This will only take a moment of your time. *steals your watch*

But I've stated in dozens of threads that FF6 is my favorite FF, and even my favorite RPG. I even like it more than Chrono Trigger. And it has one of my favorite scores ever.

I might have been a few months off, but I got the year right. I'll even back up my earlier statement, because by this time of the year in 1994, Square should have been done working on FF6, and the second they were done with FF6 they were a shitty company in my opinion. The second they chose to go the FMV multiple disc game route, they were dead to me.
