Forums - PC - Help with Linksys router!!!! Please help!!!!

I have the BEFSR41 wired Linksys router.

I decided to do a firmware upgrade. I downloaded the firmware from the linksys website (name of the file - FW_BEFSR41v4.3_2.00.4.5_20080603_code) and went to 192.168.1.1 and told to do the upgrade.

It said it was sucessful. Suddenly, I can't connect to the internet anymore. There is this warning that "my connection is limited" or something.

And I cant even acess 192.168.1.1 anymore to try to fix the problem.

I should add that I have this router to share a connection between my PC and my PS3.

Now, can anyone please help me? I thought it was going to be a simple process and now I am really nervous.

Thanks in advance.

did you try restart all 3 router, modem and pc.....sometimes restarting helps renew all ur ips....which sometimes could be the case...

I have already restarted all of them and the problem persists.

If you have a wireless network, chances are the firmware upgrade wiped all your settings. And for a wireless router, this usually means the wireless is disabled, or has been changed to the default SSID/password.

My router is wired only, so the problem is that I cant acess 192.168.1.1 when it is connectec to my PC. I tried to press the reset button but it doesn't work.

Do you mean another button, KylieDog?

The only reason I am online here is that I took the modem cable and put it straight on the PC.

Have you tried 192.168.0.1?

@NJ5 - Yes. It didn't work.

You should be able to do run...cmd....ipconfig /all to see the ip needed to access router settings.

I will try that. The problem is that I have to keep changing cables to go online and then to try something.

But I will try.

I would do what llewdebkram says. It is important to note what IP address you're PC has assigned, and if there is a default gateway IP.
