Hey, I'm new here and I was just wondering. I have played only 1 MMORPG for an extended period of time and that would be RuneScape. I quit sometime back and well, I really found some flaws.
I really like the concept of a MMORPG but most of them suffer from some fatal flaws.
In my opinion a MMORPG should not have repetitive work, I don't really like to sit there and cut the same tree for 1 hour a day for a whole year just to get a maximum level or a highscore. This is mostly because you will get banned or removed from the site for behaving like a bot.
Also, MMORPG's should have player controlled economies, set prices and limitations really take some fun of the whole collecting and selling process. If someone is in desperate need of an item, of course you are going to charge them more than if you were selling to say, a person who had other options. This also takes out the option of buying items and re-selling for a higher price.
One more thing is, attacking other players for their items is pretty much a must. If you weren't allowed to do this then I think that takes the whole purpose of a MMORPG away. Because the real reason why you try to become, say the best Magician in the game is because you want to attack other people for the fun of it, and, of course the items they drop when they die.
Remember this is all in my opinion and I'm sorry if I am boring (I get that a lot) But what do you think would make up the perfect MMORPG? :D
