Wouldn't some of the mechanics of the new game have negated some of the years of training you've had on Melee though? I would think with them taking some things away and adding new things, strategies would need to be reworked. Some of what you're learning now has nothing to do with the 8 previous years and has been only in your repertoire for about 11 months at the most.

Certainly, but not much. For instance, I'm just now mastering timing my aerial attacks, something that hasn't change at all (apart from the relative movement speed of the characters, which wasn't what I've had trouble with). A great portion of the game mechanics has remained the same.

Brawl. Not really a contest in my opinion. Street Fighter is the best 2D out there, but putting up against Brawl isn't fair.
I've always felt like I needed an encyclopedia to try and play Street Fighter-type games, not really a fan of the genre. Not even really into Brawl, but I appreciated all the options and modes available there (I actually liked SSE too), especially the auto-handicap stuff (so I could actually win some matches....)
I just tried it at my friend place, and it's pretty good.
Although personally, I think Brawl is better.
I reject the premise that being a more technical fighter equals being a better fighter. And while vagabond is certainly right about SFIV having more depth in the areas he mentioned, SSBB has its own advantages.
