Forums - PC Discussion - Help with hard drive speed

Today under my windows 7 hardware ratings, everything is 7.9, but hard drive performance section is 2.9.

Yesterday my computer crashed do to me messing up registry keys and I wiped it and put a windows 7 again.

also before i wiped it the hard drive performance was 5.9

My hard drive is made by seagate and is ide

So if any of you have any idea why the speed changed dramatically please tell me.

thanks

IDE is old and slow compared to SATA.
How old is the hard drive it may be dying!
Windows 7 is still a beta so expect a few odd things!

You may want to download seatools on the computer and use it to test the hard drive. http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/seatools
