Forums - Gaming - Chrono Trigger...emulator?

^^ I´m sure it´s not illegal as long as you own the original game, VC is nothing but an emulator.

He doesn't own the original so it's pointless to even try to argue that.

twesterm: I'm against that nearly 100%.

A) How is he going to find a new copy of the game? Then Square gets no revenue anyway if it's used. Pirating is bad because it takes away revenue from game makers, but buying used games is... good?

B) The ps1 version is awful. The game should be enjoyed without load times.

Edit: Though do agree emulators are simple beasts, but if you don't know, you don't know.

At least following a comedians own jokes makes his death easier.

He could just go retrohunting at GameStops and such to find it if he really wants it, legally.

If he wants to do this illegally, he can just go to romnation.net and get the emulator and ROM there.

A) If you would have bothered following my link, you would have *gasp* found new and used versions. That wasn't so hard was it?

B) Load times are annoying but you're still playing some great games.

twesterm: At this point, I'd pretty much only order from Square-Enix the company to get it. However, at least with Amazon, there is a chance that they will order something else form them. So alright, go with that.

And I've always been against load times, and often praise games that find ways of hiding it cleverly. Black screen with loading on a sprite RPG just makes me a sad panda.

This was an edit in response to Fuzzmosis, but why not make it a new post.

And sorry, forgot to answer the second part of A). Buying used games is fine just like buying used cars is because you're still supporting the developers legally. Using roms and the likes only promotes more piracy. I know people like to make up reasons why they're legal (trial purposes, legal to keep for 24 hours, they're backups I sear) they are in no way legal and even if you convince yourself you're doing right by one of the previous reasons it's still only a gateway to getting ones that won't fit those reasons.

Best SNES emulation site, plus the forums have some goodies, too.

Oh no, there's really no legality to them, it's their intellectual property that has some specific guidelines to use. Pretty sure emulation isn't on there, though I never did read those contracts or laws.

But buying a used game means 0 dollars of your money goes to developers. 0. Are you supporting them with moral support or something? Give me a break.

Someone else bought it yes, but your choices are: Give money to a company that is entirely unrelated to distribution, production or anything with the game and don't support the makers, or give no money to people who are unrelated to the game and don't support the makers.

It's always so fun to watch people justify their actions.  Go ahead and keep conversing yourself that you're doing the right thing when you obviously know you're not.

I see you justified your argument that buying used games supports developers by saying I'm justifying emulator use. Very well done. Do you agree that buying used does not help developers, and if not, why not?

When you provided a link to a new copy, I said use it. Did you just ignore that to feel justified in ignoring my other point?
