Robot to develop further Halo Wars content, new IP

Recently formed Robot Entertainment has answered the question of who's going to support Halo Wars after its launch on March 3: the people who made it. Robot -- created by ex Ensemble Studios staff, including its founder, Tony Good -- will not only provide online support and community management for the Halo universe RTS, but will be working with Microsoft Game Studios to create future content for the game.

Robot will also be working with MGS on the Ensemble-created Age of Empires franchise going forward, with the intent to handle support for current and future titles in the series. In a release issued today, the developer also announced that it has begun work on a new project based on an original IP. Given the various unannounced projects revealed when Ensemble closed its doors, we wouldn't be at all surprised if this new game isn't an RTS.

Apparently costs were too high to keep Ensemble running.

What, mine and every other gold subscribers $50 a year and the millions of microsoft sold games can't keep an INCREADIBLE developer running? I doubt it was because they didn't have the money. More like they didn't want to use the money.

I can understand letting go of the team, but why put so much drama into it? They could have done what they did with Bungie and just release the studio as is. Was it necessary to scare the employees and the fans alike and force the studio to garnish a new name just for the fuck of it?

Wait a second....ok....the gaming company that makes the game gets fired, then they create a studio called robot, and pretty much get rehired...

What....

Maybe if Ensemble were spunoff the company would quickly drowned in debt? Perhaps Robot is significantly smaller than Ensemble and doesn't include some of the baggage that would have been brought alone with a spunoff studio.
