Forums - Microsoft - The Next Xbox -- What to Expect

This is a great article...I actually read the whole thing...

I do doubt that a new Xbox or Playstation system would come out in 2011...maybe a little later like ou stated around 2012 or 2013...

What I think might happen though is instead of new consoles being released anytime soon...they will just remake the current consoles available just with minor tweaks done to them...like lets say

360

Probably make it smaller...a new blue ray drive maybe added to it....larger HD...and eliminate the power brick that it comes with...also could add a new controller while add it....like the wii's motion sensing controller...

Ps3
Probably make it smaller....a faster reading blue ray drive...better improved motion sensing controller than it already has...also try to get more developers to make use of this technology on the Ps3...a bigger HD...they can probably make more colors available for it...also more reliable online service...

Wii
I Believe that Nintendo WILL release a new Wii (Il call it Wii 2) sooner than its competitors but this is only due to the fact it's graphics are not on par with that of the 360 or Ps3....

So in order to keep the Wii competing with the 360 and Ps3 (later on) even though it's kicking both their A** right now...they will need to release a Wii with these qualities...

Wii 2....better graphics card which would put it on Par with the 360 and Ps3 in terms of graphical capabilities...this may also get Nintendo to grab MORE 3rd party developers to develop games for the Wii...since they can just make any game they are making on the 360 and Ps3 now on the Wii 2 without sacrificing any visuals...also a blueray drive just like Sony's...and the next xbox...and include a HD with the system also....and improve and promote better their online service...thats about it for Nintendo...they already have a tons load of fans...they will be set for the next generation

@Johnny

The only reason I disagree with that possibility is at least for the 360 it would alienate the earlier purchasers. If developers made a game to fit on a Blu-Ray, only those new console owners could play it.

There will probably be revised systems that are smaller or "slim" coming out in the next year or so, but no real revisions to the internal hardware. Those major revisions will still wait for the next generation I'd say.

@nightsurge

I forgot all about that part...but maybe they can make a blue ray drive that can also read old DVD based games...I mean Blue Ray Players read regular movie DvD's and Blue Rays...why not transition this technology into games...

A blu-ray that can read DVD's isn't the issue.  Of course a Blu-Ray drive can play DVD's (at least for a majority of drives).  The issue would be with the existing Xbox 360's only supporting DVD's.  Those old 360's with just DVD drives could not play the Blu-Ray based games/movies, and thus be alienated.  They could try an add-on for those left out, but still, that just makes it look bad to force an upgrade on the majority of your users.

I say Blu-Ray is the perfect media for the next generation.  That or some other proprietary large file size disc that Microsoft may develop/use.

@nightsurge

Oh yeah I was thinking of a next console sorry...Im forgetting I mentioned a rehash of these systems lol
