I'm abstinent and yet I don't see anything wrong with it either. The problem isn't that abstinence is not realistic at all...the problem is that abstinence is getting harder and harder in this culture of sexuality.
The only reason I have been abstinent for this long is the fact that I decided not to associate with the Western culture.
Is it wrong to not practice abstinence? Depends on you...for me I believe I should practice abstinence for my benefit. |
Western Culture doesn't promote abstinence?
I would argue the exact opposite of this. Many other cultures "worship" (not literally) fertility. In fact it is basically a duty to have many children. Being barren is the worst possible outcome in life.
Of course many of these cultures also want people to be married at a young age and thus have children.
In the Case of the United States I think that Abstinence primarily doesn't work for most because Marriage age has been pushed back a lot in the 20th and 21st centuries and we are still trying to deal with this taboo.
A lot of people remain abstient - they do everywhere - even though they don't swear to a particular faith. Some people just have lower libidos. There are people within cultures that just don't have sex.
I'm intrigued by the morality in sex.
Pakidan - Why did you choose "sex" to rebel against. Why not capitalism, fast food, "western clothing" etc. Just curious.
