valentines day, a day which seems to me is about couples throwing money at each other and making single people feel bad, my question to you is, why do we celebrate it?

Well, I used to hate it, but I met this really cool girl and it's nice to have an excuse to buy her things. =)

this is kind of my point, when you were single, naturally you hated it, also why on earth should couples need an excuse to be nice to each other? i mean unless ive missed the point of relationships entirely, you dont need an excuse to show each other affection, you should do it all the time anyway?

Why not? I buy her stuff anyway and do all these nice things for her. Tbh, I think it's more of a girl thing (correct me if I'm wrong) but there's nothing wrong with having a holiday where you give gifts, etc to your loved one. I guess it's just for fun. ^_^

Feel free to make that a holiday... That seems kind of depressing to me though; would you buy gifts for yourself? o_O

Thats exactly what I've said to several people regarding the day.

Eh, my love life really isn't in bad shape right now though. I guess I'll feel only a tiny bit bitter this year.

[2:08:58 am] Moongoddess256: being asian makes you naturally good at ddr
[2:09:22 am] gnizmo: its a weird genetic thing
[2:09:30 am] gnizmo: goes back to hunting giant crabs in feudal Japan

High five to the bitter single people! We rock.
