Forums - Sony - Can the PS3 catch up/beat the 360 in Europe?

Benv, In eu no its not.

given the price difference.

£299 - $430
£129 - $185

to me 360 is a massive failure in Europe, at that price if 360 was a direct competitor a equal to Ps3 it would be killing it in sales. More then Doubling them but its not.

A massive failure.... sigh...fanboy... the only massive failure I see is SONY not being able to take advantage of his past market and facing quite some churns...

Altough, it is true that we don't have netflix and the same XBL content like in the US...

Technically, EU is a PS2-SOny stronghold (with SOOOOO many ads for soccer fans...).

IMO the 360 is doing pretty well if you consider the history of the Playstation brand in EU...

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

After a price drop I'll be suprised if it doesn't catch up with x360.

Yes they can do it, but the Xbox360 already gained some attention and stole customers from sony. So MS is really hurting them at the moment. Another important thing is that the Xbox360 is dominating in UK, outselling the PS3 2:1. UK is by far the biggest market in Europe.

NA is definately chosing the XBox360 over the PS3. No competition there.

Before this gen started EVERYBODY expected Sony to dominate Nintendo and MS. Now we have to discuss if Sony has a chance to gain the second place in their strongest region. There is no spin needed, Sony is the biggest loser this gen.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

The Ps3 could catch the 360 in others but it will not. the main reason for this is Sony, they don't have the money or the ideas to win this one. Also so for the PS3 has been to me a total waste of time. I have now had a PS3 for 12 months and I have 2 games, LBP and MGS both have problems. when I have a bit of money or time I spend it all on the 360, there is nothing out there to make me use it ( apart from films ). From last gen to this sony have lost big time and we will not see the depth of there lost till next gen, when MS will not need to covert gamers they will already be waiting for the new console. With Xbox live they have tied in gamers to the xbox brand and this will show next gen big time.

Oh course they can. A price cut and a certain racing game would cause quite a ripple in the weekly sales.

 This.

It's inevitable, it will (Again). There's just no possible way that it won't.

recession is gonna hit europe hard in 2009... without a large price cut you can say bye bye to PS3 comming back. has to be at least 100€

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

well teh ps3 is one price cut away from outselling the 360 for the rest of the gen

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

I believe it can and that it will. Europe is their best region and Sony still has it's biggest games and a price cut coming so they should do fine in Europe at least.
