Forums - Sony - Low KZ2 Pre-Orders means NO gamespot Midnight Launch! (confirmed)

i dont believe that... i asked my local gamestop back in november why were they not having a midnight launch for resistance 2 but 1 for gears of war 2 and the employee told me its not up to them but sony and miscrosoft...gamestop doesnt pay for those hours of the midnight launch sony and microsoft..or whoever publishes the game does...

Who ever told you that is full of it 100%.  The midnight openings are basically a reward to all of the devoted gaming fans who have preordered or who want the game slightly early.  The only time M$ or Sony pays for any type of event like that is if it is a corporate event at like Times Square where there is a lot of press coverage.

Not a good sign for the US sales. Must be a lack of interest since it's not on 360.

If KZ2 were on the 360 also, or even  a 360 exclusive, it would be hard pressed to even approach what Call of Duty series does.  It doesn't matter how great KZ2 looks, people buy based on brand recognition.  This is why Halo whatever gets a lot of sales, and KZ2 would be VERY hard pressed to get close to the sales numbers of the Halo series.

@CGI

Never!

Its only got a Metacritic rating of 92!!! Only games with a rating of 93 or higher deserve midnight launches...

Tease.

My local Gamestop has no advertisements related to Killzone 2, its not even on the "coming soon" board. But that's just my store. I could assume that my Gamestop store represents all stores across America. But I should never assume.

It was up on the coming soon board where I am.  Not a lot of signs, but at least that.

Well then HOWDY neighbor...lol

I live in Raleigh :D

You could say I'm a Raleigh'er as well haha

I lived off Wake Forest Rd before moving out to Fuquay.  I don't think the store here is having a midnight launch but it's better than you guys up at capital anyway

It's not all about brand recognition.  Did the original Halo sell 6 million because of brand recognition?  No.  Did Call of Duty 4 sell 4 million on the ps3 because of the amazing success of Call of Duty 3?  No.

They sold because they were quality titles with great word of mouth. Given the quality of Killzone, I think it has a chance to sell as well as Call of Duty 4 lifetime.

I dount it will do as well as COD4. The game just isn't going to be as good for one, and the COD series already had a large fanbase.

The game isn't going to be as good?  Look how it's scoring compared to World at War, and World at War is basically a reskinned Modern Combat with a zombie mode and co-op.
