I think there isn't a certain trend. If people bought a PC they tend to buy some games for it also, and later on they start moving to consoles because of system specs.
one friend of mine will buy the BioShock XBox version because it has no framerate drop and the PC requirements are a bit over the top.
I can only say that most of the people i know don't favour the one above the other, yet i don't know anyone with a PS3. But that's something we could have guessed by both the price and the sales. Most PS3 owners are either under 14 or above 24, i don't think the others could afford one themselves and for 700$ you have either a Wii and XBox with their best games and still some spare money for a beer. I would have to work over a week to have a PS3, and i think most people just think the same thing.
Maybe a good poll question: who payed for their PS3 themselves, and by that i mean real life work and not some jobs for your parents...
