Well I mean I want to play the current games at the highest settings. I just don't think 3 -5 years from now when I can only play games at half settings that I will care very much. Ya dig? :]

Yes. Assuming your monitor is 1600x1200 or less, this will play all current games on the highest settings EXCEPT Crysis. But NOTHING plays Crysis smoothly on max, not even the best hardware out there.

Ohh okay. So Crysis is from the year 2015?:] If I can get the game to look beautiful with the texture mod I am good.

Except, his monitor is actually 1920/1080.

What size and res do you suggest guys?

There are some key advantages to the Core I7 platform you should understand.

1. It will be able to drive any GPU setup now and in the future, especially multi-gpu setups.

2. You have to consider the time/effort required to rebuild a Core 2 system/AMD system in the future whilst a Core I7 system will be current for a little longer as it has up to date technology.

3. With a Core I7 you can be GPU agnostic, meaning you can run powerful AMD or Nvidia graphics card setups, you're not locked to one particular GPU maker if you want to run a powerful system.

4. A core I7 system is only a few hundred more expensive than a top of the range Phenom system and yet it you get the advantages above.

Some other things you should consider. Its more expensive in terms of time and effort to update a CPU/Motherboard than it is to update your graphics card. You can easily go through many more GPU upgrades than you do CPU/Motherboard upgrades and thats considered the ideal way to do things. Your GPU should last you between 18 months to 3 years whilst your CPU/Motherboard should easily be good for 5 Years.

From what I have read, the I7 us the way to go. My plan was to have an uber CPU that could last many years. Are there any better then this? It is quadcore right? Or am I mistaken?

Actually you should go to that site and have a look at their forums. You'll get locals who know prices/value better than anyone here and you can take their suggestions straight to the purchase page.

Im nowhere near ready for building a Core i7 system yet, still got to wait a couple of months before I start researching. So im not that knowledgable on which motherboards etc to get! Nor have I used the overclocking etc.

You've pretty much got 90% of the info you need, remember just select a great Computer case, GTX 285 and you're good to go. Remember that list I posted earlier? Thats pretty much what you need.
