Forums - Gaming - Do we add virtual console sales into sales totals for a specific game?

Yeah Super Mario Bros sold 40 million, so if it sold an extra 2 million on the virtual console, would the figure of the best selling videogame ever be altered? If not, then should Warhawk sales really count?

As far as we know, the individual game numbers have never been announced, only total purchases.
And, SMB was a pack-in purchase for most so doesn't count in the grand scheme of things.

To cash in my CC rewards points for $300 in Circuit City gift cards to purchase a 360 or not: That is the question.

Only boxed copies are tracked and counted. If it doesn't go through retailers, it won't be counted.

Even boxed it wouldn't count 'cause it's a re-release so it's basically a different SKU. Like the special Windwaker edition that included Ocarina of Time didn't add to the Ocarina numbers.

Too bad, i just hope one day this site will count these numbers.

that would be awesome, but no way will any of the three give out numbers unless its extremely big. like if warhawk becomes the biggest psn seller and hits a million in stores sony would definitely want to show off the psn and its freedom to make real big games.
