@megaman

i already refuted what you said in an earlier post. i'm not talking about profit or any sort of thing. i'm talking about volume sales. number of people who actually bought the thing. read it. it's somewhere up there.

OK. So a game can profit and FAIL? You have funny standards. I certainly would not want to go into business with you.

I know what you are trying to say -- that new IPs in core genres are not going to do well on the Wii.

However, for the most part, new IPs don't do well PERIOD. And certainly it takes time to build up an audience.

It basically seems as if someone has made the rules to defame a console that they do not own/like.

This...  Pretty much if a game makes a decent amount of profit you can't say it is a failure.  A failure would be if it bombed and was made for a loss.  Your CoD:WaW arguement is pretty much bunk also bugrimmar because the Wii version is picking up sales.  Just because it doesn't sell as well as the PS3/360 version doesn't mean shit really.

Until you have a bigger list than ONE GAME...which wasnt even successful sales wise you'll be ignored lol...

First one over 1m in sales is hardly unsuccessful by any standards (talk about moving goal posts).  That's highly profitable for a Wii game and it's getting a sequel.

Secondly - what other Core Wii exclusive games have even been released?  No More Heroes?  That's a niche product but was highly successful for what it was and is getting a sequel.   Everything else has been a PS2 or PSP port or aimed at casuals.

you will regrert this "Just" when he make you look like an idoit and you loose any shot at a creditable acct on VG

I have a prediction too:

Anyone who judges success by looking at sales numbers alone fails.

So lucky that I posted this in a thread which proves it!

Do you even know who Nintendo is? When you say "any core game" without the (still fallacious) qualifier of "third party", you all of a sudden have to face the juggernauts of Zelda, Mario, Metroid, Mario Kart... I mean, do you even know how dubious the "core" qualifier is? Do you know how many "core" games, for generations, were made exclusively for children? Do you really want a list? Fine! This isn't a list war, therefore a list of "successful" "core" games on the Wii is easy to make!

Mario Kart Wii

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Super Mario Galaxy

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (yes, sports games are core)

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Guitar Hero III

Guitar Hero: World Tour

Link's Crossbow Training

Super Paper Mario

Animal Crossing

Sonic and the Secret Rings

Mario Strikers Charged

Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition

Rayman Raving Rabbids

Rayman Raving Rabbids 2

Rayman Raving Rabbids 3: TV Party

Shaun White Snowboarding

Deca Sports

Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles

Rock Band

ALL THE LEGO GAMES (Indiana Jones, Batman, Star Wars)

The Force Unleashed

Pokemon Battle Revolution

RED STEEL

Ben 10: Protector of the Earth (I don't even want to hear it, being for kids doesn't mean it isn't a core game)

Naruto: Clash of Ninja Revolution

House of the Dead 2 & 3

Madden NFL 08

There! There's your list of really successful core Wii games! This is just from the first page of Wii games ranked according to sales, and I left off several games that were past that page, like No More Heroes and de Blob, in spite of the fact that they were both successful enough to earn sequels and so core they are like jamming hot knives into your frontal lobes so as to stimulate your awesomeness cortex.

There! Happy?

^that was ...... *claps*

Very well put Khuutra, I dislike when people make these broad generalizations about the Wii without actually know anything about the games that have been released thus far.

The only teeth strong enough to eat other teeth.

I can't believe I wasted time reading this thread. A HD game that sells a million can lose money and a Wii game that sells 400k can make money and under this guy's guidelines he is calling the profitable game a failure...

Can I have my 5 1/2 minutes back? Quit wasting peoples time with this garbage...

And quit wasting your own time writing it. Please.....

BAM! There it is!

Profit. Profit profit profit profit profit

Profit determines success, profit and publisher expectations. Mindshare is also important, but mindshare doesn't necessarily mean money (or else Nintendo would be tripping over themselves to release Mother 3 in North America). It's all about games reaching their target market in a way that they are noticed, and profit within parameters set by publishers, this is success. To compare these games in terms of sales within their own genre doesn't work, because there are too many barriers to simply set The Conduit in a match against the average shooter, because the average shooter is a very fragmented concept to begin with. You could set it against the average Wii shooter, but there isn't much there to compete with.
