Forums - Gaming - PS3 console: New or Second Hand?

At game stores second hand PS3 and new PS3 both come with 12 month warranties.

So if I buy option 1 that will not count towards new PS3 console sales. Sony might be unhappy if someone buys a second hand PS3.

Second hand X360s well I would not buy one of them second hand but guess second hand PS3 with a 12 month warranty is the way to go. I could resell it in 12 months time and make small loss if I get bored of it.

Buying new consoles have dropped in price the minute you have bought it assuming there are no sales returns. Just like all assets, consoles are depreciable assets. A brand new car purchase the instant you have bought  it and drive it out of the sales yard you have already lost 20% of its value.

Please give me your recommendations and tell me the cheapest possible second hand PS3 console price you have seen and where?

second hand because they are not worth the price right now and they might be a price cut soon

Yeah go second hand! If the console come from a store and if it's under warranty, go for it!

At gamestop the used 40GB PS3s are $349. That's the cheapest I know of.

@numenox

are you seriously considering buying a PS3?

it's a miracle ;P

OT:get second hand if they both come with same amount of warranty
