Forums - Sony - Why does the RE5 demo feel like a last gen game?

So basicaly what you guys are saying is that RE5 is exactly like RE4, but with better graphics? I imagined it would be so.
The only thing I don't get is why this game is still called a survival horror. It's not. It hasn't been for a long time. Silent Hill (the old ones) are survival horrors. Fatal Frame are survival horrors. RE4 is an action game. From beggining to end. And from what I've seen, so is RE5.
So yes, I get why people would be pissed off that the controls make the game slower. Action games are not supposed to be slow.

even walking would be realistic. i mean come on, are you trying to tell me that people MUST stop to shoot?

think about cops and soldiers in real life. are they completely incapable of moving while shooting?

you must be living in a strange dream world.

Please listen to yourself.  Movies and games ! = real life.

Try running and shooting in real life, please.  You won't hit shit all.

Also, just because a lot of TPS games allow you to run and gun doesn't make RE5 bad, it just makes it different.

Yeah but I just want to walk while aiming, I don't care if when I shoot the character stops, but while I'm just aiming I'd like to walk at least back and forth. Can you tell me you can't hold a handgun with two hands amiming and walk at the same time?

notice i never mentioned the word 'run'?

i said 'MOVE'. even I, who has only held a gun three times in my life, can MOVE while shooting. I freaking walked towards the target while shooting on my bloody first time.

It's just ridiculous that this kind of soldier depicted in this game is completely incapable of moving his feet at all when he shoots. it makes him look stupid and unrealistic. aside from that, the lack of movement just makes the character feel like he's nailed to spots.

you keep mentioning run for some reason. i posted in the original post that i don't want a gears of war. i just want him to MOVE, like an ordinary guy should.

and as lightbleeder mentioned, he can't even aim while moving. that's even worse.

i hate people complaining about running and shooting- this is an RE game, not a shooter. if you don't like it, go play your FPS and TPS games.

here's a clue:

LEARN TO READ. i never mentioned the word 'run'. i said "MOVE". "MOVE" as in at least WALK while aiming and shooting, since even I can bloody do that.

I DIDN'T SAY RUN. STOP SAYING I WANT A RUN AND SHOOT GAME.

@ phoenix: even after his explanation... MOVE and aim, or MOVE and shoot, not RUN and aim or RUN and shoot.

sorry, i read it wrong, which was my bad.

still, having to stop and shoot has always been something in RE, and they should keep it that way.

Wow, there seems to be a lot of disaffection with RE5's controls, and this is from message boards, ie. the 'hardcore' community.

Is it possible... that this game will... flop?

A game I'm developing with some friends:

www.xnagg.com/zombieasteroids/publish.htm

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

actually the common problem i see with people i play online is, most of them have never played RE4 so most are *noobs* to the control scheme.
RE5 is pretty simple because people who played RE4 extensively won't find it too hard.
